A year and a half ago, Clayton Tucker and I entered this race from opposite sides of the political aisle, but with one thing in common: We both believed the current Ag Commissioner was corrupt and we needed to clean house at the TDA (see video for Clayton's own words).
Fast forward to today, and Clayton is standing shoulder to shoulder with Sid Miller, the very politician we both set out to replace, and embracing his so-called "legacy."
Think about that.
After more than a decade of scandals, ethics violations, questionable judgment, and a culture of political favoritism at the Department of Agriculture, Clayton Tucker has decided to make common cause with the man responsible for leading it.
This is the same Sid Miller whose longtime political consultant pleaded guilty to commercial bribery involving the sale of state hemp licenses, and whom Miller subsequently hired as his chief of staff.
The same Sid Miller who faced ethics penalties over his use of public funds and campaign accounting.
The same Sid Miller who hiked fees on farmers and ranchers, millions of dollars over what he claimed he needed money for.
The same Sid Miller who led the Texas school lunch program to 44TH IN THE NATION.
Texans deserve better than political alliances built around personal grudges and protecting the old guard.
Clayton can call this partnership whatever he wants. But Texans can see what's happening.
I didn't run against Sid Miller just to inherit his political machine. I ran to change the way the Department of Agriculture operates, restore integrity, and put Texas farmers, ranchers, and families first.
You don't change the status quo by joining it.
Texas voted for a new direction in March. I'm not backing down from delivering it. #txlege

Easy way to spot fraud in government spending.
Is it one of only 17 specifically-enumerated government functions under Article I, Section 8?
NO - It’s fraudulent. Repeal the entire program.
YES - Likely fraudulent. Audit the entire program.

NEW AD: Gina Hinojosa - More Taxes, Less Texas.
Gina Hinojosa wants a state income tax and voted 40+ times to raise property taxes. That means less money in your paycheck. Governor Abbott is fighting to cut property taxes and keep Texas affordable. That’s why Texans are sticking with Greg Abbott.

Gina Hinojosa is a foreign terrorist organization’s preferred candidate.
She voted for Muslim-only compounds, against giving Texas power to designate foreign terrorist organizations, and backed judges using Sharia law in Texas courts.
Gina Hinojosa is dangerous for Texas.

Yesterday, I provided about the poll UT put out for the senate and gubernatorial races. I incorrectly assumed the splits were for likely voters when they were actually splits for registered voters. That changes my interpretation of the poll.

Replying to @longhornderek @TxPolProject
I'm sorry Derek, but those are the demographics for registered voters. If you had emailed me, I could have saved you some time. In the LV sample, here's the age split: 14% 18-29; 23% 30-44; 34% 45-64; and 29% 65+. So, 13% vs. 14% 18-29; 28% vs 29% 65+. Not much.

I've known @jamestalarico for nearly 20 years. When we were at @UTAustin in 2009, he ran the University Democrats and I ran the College Republicans. Although we disagreed, I once considered him a friend. But then he betrayed the entire student body for his own political gain.🧵
