This literally never happens and a "Founder" has never been right about anything.
Dutch sick leave has strict, time-bound reintegration rules and is assessed by the company doctor, not determined by the employee. If the employee doesn't reintegrate the company can withhold pay.
As a Dutch person let me tell you it's way worse than it seems.
The AVERAGE stress related absence is 250+ days. The AVERAGE burnout related absence is 300+ days.
While on sick-leave, you can return to work for just 4 weeks and the 2 year period **resets**.
Your employer is forced to assist you in this. They have to pay for doctors, experts, and so on. If they don't, you get an extra year's wages.
While on sick-leave, you can work a second job. As long as this is outside business hours of the first job, or the work is different, your first employer still pays you 70%.
Here's another cool one: you can go on holiday during sick-leave. The employer can force you to use your vacation days for that, but then they have to pay you 100% of your wages rather than 70% during that period.
Simple solution: you just work with contractors right? No, because a contractor can just claim employee status after getting sick. Many such cases.
All of this is obviously broken. If you say this you're met with half-baked "worker's rights" arguments, as you can see in this comment section.

I get so annoyed by posts like this.
People get sick. People get pregnant. Life happens. Unexpected things happen. And what exactly is the alternative? That people should just end up on the street because life didn’t go according to plan?
It’s genuinely wild to me that this is even a debate.
You can say whatever you want about Europe, and people certainly love to talk about our taxes. But you know what? Our schools are free. Healthcare is free or affordable. Universities are free or heavily subsidized. Childcare is affordable. And if you lose your job or get sick, there’s a system in place to help you get back on your feet.
That’s the whole point. We have a social safety net because we understand that life doesn’t always go as planned.
And I genuinely believe that having that protection should be a basic human right, not a privilege.
Now, if you want to talk about how Europe can make it easier for startups to grow, attract investment, or build successful companies, I’m all for that conversation. There’s plenty we can improve.
But please, let’s stop acting like our social welfare system is the problem.
It’s one of the things we should be most proud of.
European hiring rules are genuinely insane.
For example - if you own a company in the Netherlands and one of your employees gets sick, you are required to pay at least 70% of their wages for up to 2 years.
If they can't go back to work after 2 years and you haven't done enough for their reintegration, you pay their wages for 1 more year. And you can't fire them until after that extra year!
So happy found an alternative before this. 😅
I can recommend @phibrowser for everyone who is still looking for a very similar experience.
I did try Zen, but it is missing a few features (a limitation in Firefox / Gecko itself) that I couldn't compromise.
We've decided to sunset Arc on December 22, 2026.
That's not an easy sentence to write. We spent years building Arc and celebrating each and every release along the way: we have so much pride and love for what we made alongside the Arc community.
Our priority is to deliver best-in-class security for our members. Keeping a browser secure takes constant, dedicated work that is only increasing in the age of AI. Dia was built from the ground up to meet today’s security standards, so that's where our engineering and security teams will focus moving forward.
We've worked to make switching to @diabrowser as easy as possible for Arc members. Here's how:
· Your passwords, bookmarks, extensions and history come over to Dia seamlessly.
· Spaces, Folders, and Tab Groups are in Dia and import over with your data intact.
· Dia now surpasses Arc benchmarks in stability, speed, and security.
· The browser features you use in Arc are free in Dia, and the AI is optional.
Thank you for using Arc, for pushing us to make it better, and for building alongside us. The team that made Arc is the same team behind Dia, and some of our most ambitious work is just ahead. We'd love for you to be there with us when it lands.

All Coolify v4 security patches are out now: v4.0.1, v4.1.3, v4.2.1, v4.3.24 and v4.4.7.
v4.4.7 shipped at 14:12 UTC, under 40 minutes after PHP 8.4.27 was published. We built PHP from the signed php source instead of waiting for the official Docker images (those are still not out).
If you can please update to the latest version v4.4.7 (Settings → Update).
If you have to stay on v4.0 to v4.3 you can run a special patch script.
These releases also update Node.js, cloudflared and Sentinel (rust).

Please don't fall to slop generated exploits. There are no currently public working PoCs on the CVE-2026-109618 and CVE-2026-109619.
The one published by J4ck3LSyN provide no path that makes PHP interpret the sprayed bytes as a callable implementation.

Honestly, it's pretty disappointing to see responsible disclosure fail like this. It takes a lot of effort to release a critical patch.
Leaking the announcement or publishing a PoC before a scheduled patch shows you have no ethics and are only interested in credit for yourself.

This map incorrectly excludes Israel, Taiwan, Norway and Denmark, all of which had universal healthcare in 2021. It also marks Ghana and Pakistan as universally covered despite significant gaps: Ghana's national insurance enrolled only 54% of its population that year.

I think it is rather odd that a community that used AI to train voice models become furious after a software developer might be using AI to help with coding, as it helps with implementing features much quicker. The hostility towards coding agents is rather uncalled for.

Hey guys,
I am looking for a german-speaking host/interviewer - preferably located in southern Germany, but can be from anywhere - for an opportunity in 2 weeks.
I need someone comfortable with crowd work and knowledgeable in LoL.

This sentiment hits home in a lot of ways. I think this can be applied to collegiate in a lot of ways too. If students/volunteers keep putting out this great product for free/very cheap, what incentive is there for admin to invest?

It was nice reading this, something thats hard to put in words but makes me just so sad is how T2 OW has been an immersurable revolving door of people.
I dedicated years of my life to t2 ow (2017-2020) and i probably talk to 1-2 people from that time still on a weekly basis at best
all the people i grew with and grinded with just went away slowly and surely.
i think that anything that is built of passion but lacks a visage of growth will lose people and that then causes a slow cycle of decay. if people compete for passion, and the thing theyre passionate about is regressing and not stable, they move onto something else
