President Trump has more unfilled Senate-confirmed positions than any president at this point in his administration since Ronald Reagan.
In our story for @washingtonpost, senior officials defend a more deliberate approach to hiring that prioritizes vetting over speed washingtonpost.com/politics/…

Scoops on scoops: Lotta journalistic secrets revealed in @realBobWoodward's new memoir, including how he gained entry to former CIA Director Bill Casey's hospital room to extract his confession on Iran-contra.

It's still not legally the Department of War. It's a secondary title created by the administration.
This year's NDAA might change that.
President Donald J. Trump and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth had the conviction to call us the Department of War and say it plainly: America’s military exists to deter war through strength and, if necessary, fight and win.
The President has acted. Now Congress must finish the job and enshrine the Department of War name in law.

The debris trucks I photographed yesterday at the East Potomac Golf Course with taped-over logos also went so far as to tape over their license plates. Just re-watched the video I shot of them arriving and noticed that.

October 23, 1983. Beirut, Lebanon.
43 years ago today at 0622, 241 American service members were killed in a terrorist attack on the Marine barracks in Beirut.
220 Marines.
18 Navy sailors.
3 Army soldiers.
That same morning, 58 French paratroopers were killed in a separate attack.
It was the deadliest single day for the United States Marine Corps since Iwo Jima.
And today, much of America is silent.
These weren’t just numbers in a casualty report. They were young Americans who raised their right hands, swore an oath, and answered their nation’s call.
They had names. They had families. They had plans for their lives. They had people waiting for them to come home.
They never got that chance.
There are memorials bearing their names. There are families who have lived 43 years with empty places at their tables. There are brothers in arms who have never stopped remembering.
But remembrance should not belong only to those who knew them.
A nation that sends its young men and women into harm’s way has an enduring responsibility to remember those who never return.
Their sacrifice should not disappear from our national consciousness simply because the years have passed, the headlines have faded, or the mission ended without victory.
We remember Iwo Jima. We remember Pearl Harbor. We remember September 11.
We must remember Beirut.
Not because of politics. Not because of how the mission began or ended.
Because 241 Americans died serving their country, and their lives deserve to be remembered.
Say their names. Tell their story. Teach the next generation what happened on October 23, 1983.
They came in peace.
They served with honor.
They must never be forgotten.

Good to hear from you, colonel. Is this written as a Pentagon employee working for Secretary Hegseth, or as a private citizen? Or both?
Have a good one!
I thought @DanLamothe’s story packed with bogus innuendo about me and my buddies was the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen him publish, but I’ve got to admit, Globogate might actually be more embarrassing.
Dude, have some dignity.
