The bipartisan Senate bills increase overall funding for 2025 non-defense appropriations by almost 3%. While tight, this funding level accommodates rising costs & better meets the nation’s needs than the partisan House bills’ damaging 6% overall cut below already low levels.

Leaders of the Senate Appropriations Committee have announced a bipartisan agreement on funding levels for their 2025 appropriations bills that will allow more adequate funding for key priorities than the damaging approach the House is taking.

The Senate takes a better course. Instead of more cuts, it would increase the 2025 non-defense total by almost enough to keep up with inflation and population. That wouldn’t make up for lost ground but would keep the hole from getting bigger.
