Can AI help us fight dengue? Dengue still has no approved antiviral. @iiserkol is setting up a Bio-AI Hub with support from the @DBTIndia, Government of India, to change that. The Hub will use AI to design DNA aptamers, short molecules that can block two key enzymes the dengue virus needs to replicate (NS5 polymerase and NS3 protease). Designs will be built to work across virus variants, and the best candidates will be tested in cells, delivered through dendritic cell-targeted nanoparticles, and validated in models and patient-derived samples. Researchers Sher-e-Kashmir, University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir, Srinagar, identified 104 significant marker–trait associations through genome wide association analysis from 102 buckwheat accessions.
