I stand with @DCDemocrats in defending their authority under the Home Rule Act to appoint an interim Democratic At-Large Councilmember. Efforts by anyone to bypass that process is wrong and undermines our city’s democratic principles. Respect Home Rule. Honor the process.

As Chair, I stand behind every word of this. There is one path to the At-Large seat, and it runs through the DC Democratic Party. Any attempt to go around our process is an attack on Home Rule, and we will treat it as one.
