The push for sport specialization is at an all-time high in youth sports, @FitzgeraldETS explained on Day 3 of #TCSLive. Exposure to various sports will instil competitiveness that translates across all sports.

Professional athletes do not need mental toughness training. They need good quality training. We need to stop with the gimmicks.
The players aren't even moving in sync. Thought this was about discipline and doing things uniform?
Let's ignore ^ this ^ and the fact that football players are not military operators - and lets focus in on the fact that this SEAL hell week style of training is NOT how they train once they have been selected.
It is used to weed out those who do not want to actually be there.
Now maybe that is what is happening with this - but doing so in June before camp in August - doubtful.
Going through one difficult training session will not make the players stand on the goal line - put their hands in the huddle - and then say "hey fellas - remember when we did that seal training in June - we got this - lets go score a TD"
Now, I have been wrong before and will be wrong again - but this seems like a massive waste of time and funds - especially when support staff can train the players hard AND are underpaid.
How does admin allow things like this? S&C coaches ALWAYS have to be aware of the transition periods - did this seal training happen right after May break? If so - seems like a TON of volume after a short amount of time.....
Going through one event is not as hard as going through an entire off-season or year and doing ALL the little things right. Anyone can suck it up and get one training session done. Who can show up for the long haul.
Focus on things like quality training:
Sprint
Jump
Throw
Push
Pull
Hinge
Carry
Crawl
Not this. Athletes deserve better.

You can still be good on a bad day...
You may be ice-cold missing shots, but you can still make passes, still rebound, and still play defense.
You may not score a touchdown or make a tackle, but you can still block, fill a hole, take on a double team, or hustle on special teams.
You may struggle at the plate, but you can still drop a bunt, stop a ground ball, or catch a fly.
Finally, you can be a good teammate... pick other kids up, encourage, stay positive, hustle your ass off, and get behind the kid who is having a good day.
You can still be good on a bad day...

If a coach tells you they’ll train your speed, balance & agility
Or they tell you they can train you “sport specifically.”
& the training looks anything like this…
Please run far, far away

Not sure how many successful people are out there with complete confidence.

Youth athletic development is not about doing highly organized serious training programs.
It's about getting the kids to have fun and love it so much that they continue to
train when the training does get serious. #LTAD

How NOT train young athletes:
Mindless sprint drills trying to chase some mystical perfect technical model...
How to train young athletes:
Games, Tag and it's variations...sprint, stop, start, turn, evade, dodge, close space, create space, make decisions and most importantly have fun!
