Tremendous thanks to all for helped with the statement. Understanding of exercise physiology is essential to assist with caring for those with CHD! @GlocoFitCHD @ACSMNews @naspem @CincyKidsHeart @CincyChildrens
CPET is essential for comprehensive care of patients w/ CHD, offering valuable prognostic insights & assisting in clinical decision-making across various congenital heart conditions, thereby significantly ⬆️patient management & outcomes. ✍🏼 @AdamPowellMD @_Dave_W @BarbaraCifra

Awesome study @jhansen_md, @MegGoBlue10 and the Michigan team. A nice tool to extend the reach of exercise therapy in those with CHD. In person CR is hard for most. We need to improve at home exercise capabilities! #chd #exerciseismedicine @GlocoFitCHD

Is Sitting The New Smoking? Sedentary behaviors, such as daily sitting, are highly prevalent and detrimental to health. The associations between sedentary behaviours and cardiovascular disease and cancer mortality are modified by physical activity. 1️⃣ Meta-analysis involving 9 studies with 850,060 and 8 studies with 777,696 participants linked sitting time to CVD mortality & cancer mortality. 2️⃣ In the lowest quartile of physical activity (PA), there was a 32% higher risk of CVD mortality and a 6%-21% higher risk of cancer mortality with longer sitting times. 3️⃣ Physical activity reduces or eliminates these risks, especially with moderate to vigorous activity. 4️⃣ Prolonged sedentary time has consistent adverse effects in those with low physical activity levels, but these effects are eliminated in those who meet or exceed 1 hour of moderate-intensity activity per day. 5️⃣ For those who engage in less moderate-vigorous activity, some protection exists against sitting's adverse effects, but not for those sitting more than 8 hours daily. "Sit less, move more—and the more, the better" applies to all. Sitting Isn't The New Smoking Like, Retweet and Bookmark🔖 Meta Analysis Link: pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2999…

It was a joy to speak at NASPEM! Great talks and even better conversations! Dr Alpert is a giant in the field and I am extremely honored to have had the chance to speak at his inaugural Clinical Practice Series! @CincyKidsHeart
The inaugural Dr. Bruce Alpert Clinical Practice Series served as the final presentations of #NASPEM2024. Our speakers included Dr. William Hardie and @AdamPowellMD from @CincyChildrens speaking on Exertional Dyspnea and Syncope, respectively. 🩺🫁💚

Nice article by @TomGlenn_3. Our patients with CHD go through a lot but they are resilient! Also highlights the importance of holistic care and treating the whole person! #exerciseismedicine @naspem @GlocoFitCHD
Individuals with CHD are more resilient than healthy counterparts. Lower resilience was assoc. with frequent hospitalizations, mental health diagnoses, lack of exercise, and no participation in CHD support groups or camps @JAHA_AHA @Schuch_doc @melissacousino @wernovsky30362
