🇹🇭 #Thailand | @ICJ_Asia calls on #Thai authorities to ensure that any anti-SLAPP law provides effective protection against abusive lawsuits, regardless of whether they are brought through criminal or civil proceedings.
At a panel discussion at the Parliament on 27 August, co-hosted by @ICJ_Asia, the Rights and Liberties Protection Department (@PRRLPD) and the House of Representatives’ Committee on Political Development, Mass Communications and Public Participation, speakers examined three legislative proposals to counter #SLAPPs.
The ICJ urges the authorities to ensure that any law adopted covers all forms of SLAPPs, enables their early dismissal and provides effective remedies for those targeted.

🇹🇭 #Thailand | In August-September, @ICJ_Asia, together with Thailand’s Court of Justice and @OHCHRAsia, and with the support of @EUinThailand, brought 104 judges together in four regional dialogues.
The dialogues served as a platform for judges to discuss implementing Thailand’s Anti-Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act in line with international law and standards.
Discussions examined the distinct role of courts in:
🔷 preventing torture and enforced disappearance
🔷 ensuring accountability, including through the assessment of evidence, exclusion of coerced confessions and meaningful searches for disappeared persons
