Most of BC's population lives in the south, where permanent Standard Time actually delivers meaningful morning light for kids' sleep and safer school runs. Only 4% of BCians completed 2019 survey and never offered Standard Time as option. Also not weighted by geography. #bcpoli

YES, I'm willing to die on the hill that school kids' 1) sleep quality and 2) safety getting to school in am should have been THE prevailing factors in why permanent Daylight Savings Time was scrapped.

Last night, I had a little girl who was about 3 yo with her dad trick-or-treating. 9:15pm and there were fireworks in all directions. Loud teens running. She looked terrified and wouldn't talk or look up.
He said to me, "She's got to learn what Halloween's about!"
Do better.
I put away all of my Halloween decorations before going to bed last night. I already go quite minimal and family-friendly geared towards little ones who pop by the door. But it just feel good waking up to a regular home again.

It is 8:30pm and there are fireworks going on in each direction, all four sides of my home. Huge pack of drunk teenagers just came by my door. Sirens going, too. On top, good weather here, so no need to be indoors.
It's going to be a looooong night.
