Good news on the new budget from @JohnHealey_MP with a strong commitment on defence. The UK role in transatlantic security is vital, and I welcome this move to put 🇬🇧 on a credible path towards meeting the commitment made by all NATO Allies in The Hague - to ensure we’re all investing what’s needed to remain ready & able to deter aggression and defend our freedom and security

🧰 🧰 🇬🇧 Start. Scale. Stay.
We want more entrepreneurs to start businesses in the UK, scale them here & stay for the long term.
Our new Entrepreneurship Prospectus, published today, backs founders with better incentives, & better access to customers, capital, talent & government support.

Today’s Budget is all about giving breathing space to families and businesses, and hope for the future.
As global conflict pushes up costs, we’re taking action today while building a stronger, more resilient economy that delivers growth in every postcode.

My Budget today will help families with the pressures they face now.
It will back businesses and entrepreneurs, invest in Britain's future, and strengthen our national security.
A plan to get through this moment and build a stronger Britain.
Today we’re doubling down on our commitment to tackle rough sleeping with an extra £432 million to help people off the streets.
With businesses, charities, and communities, @andyburnham and I will work together to end rough sleeping.

1/7 I have two simple tests for British AI, driven by our values. Is it safe? And is it ours to shape? 🇬🇧
Today, Chancellor @JohnHealey_MP is announcing a major, ambitious package of investment to strengthen Britain's defences against emerging threats, back British innovation, and build our technological independence.
Today we're setting out a British approach to AI: backing innovation and growth, managing risks responsibly, and making sure the benefits of AI-enabled growth are felt right across the country.
British firms are fed up with pointless paperwork and form-filling.
Today we are cutting unnecessary bureaucracy, reducing costs and giving businesses the breathing space they need to invest, innovate and create good jobs.

Britain has been exposed to volatile international energy markets for far too long.
That is why Labour is establishing a new Energy Wealth Fund which will reinvest tax revenues from North Sea oil and gas into renewable and low carbon projects to support the clean energy transition and bring bills down for good.

I want Britain’s energy wealth to spark a new wave of clean power.
Our decision to approve Jackdaw alongside the new Energy Wealth Fund means we invest in green transition and benefit from our existing natural resources.

It was a pleasure to meet UK Chancellor John Healey at the #IMFMeetings in Bangkok. We discussed the UK’s upcoming G20 presidency in a time of global economic crosscurrents. I also commended him on the resilience of the UK economy & the UK’s continued commitment to fiscal rules.
These GDP figures are welcome news.
Despite conflicts in the Middle East and Europe hitting people across the world, today’s figures offer more proof of Britain’s resilience in the face of these global shocks.
GDP grew 0.7% in the three months to August 2026, following revised growth of 0.5% in the three months to July.
Services grew (+0.9%) while production (-0.2%) and construction (-1.0%) both fell.

Conflict in the Middle East and Europe is hitting people around the world, but the UK economy is showing strong resilience.
This week I’ll meet finance ministers in Bangkok to discuss how we limit the impact on people and businesses, provide some breathing space and drive growth
NEW:
From Bangkok, IMF World Economic Outlook released…
- Upgrades UK growth this year by 0.3% to 1.3%, joint second highest in G7, defying the idea the UK would be hardest hit by Iran war… but inflation higher and growth trimmed next year
- UK “stands out” on deficit reduction, IMF Chief economist tells me, as its figures show a 3.9% point fall in deficit from 2025-2031, significantly more than other G7 nations, with 3 of them actually increasing their deficits over this time.
- IMF says UK should “stay course” on fiscal plans, Chancellor arrives tomorrow
- overall story of resilience in world economy, despite the clouds from the Gulf, as AI boosts US, Asia and UK to some degree… energy and trade proving flexible in dealing with shocks
Congratulations to @Sagal_AW, a fantastic campaigner and she will be a brilliant MP for Holborn and St Pancras. 🌹
When fuel prices are high, finding the best deal matters.
That's why we've launched Fuel Finder in @googlemaps, helping you compare prices more easily and find your cheapest local option.
I know people are worried about fuel prices. And I get it. You get to the pump, watch the numbers climb, and wonder why it's costing so much more than it used to.
The reality is that global events are pushing up costs, and families here at home are feeling the impact.
But I won't accept that there's nothing I can do to help.
That's why from today, you'll be able to see petrol and diesel prices on Google Maps, compare nearby stations and find the cheapest option before you fill up.
It's a small change, but if there's a practical way to help people keep more money in their pocket, I'll do it.

Three years on from the October 7 attacks on Israel, we remember those who were senselessly killed by Hamas terrorists.
The impact of the attacks has been felt not just in Israel, but in Jewish communities across the world who still bear the burden of the tragic events that day.
In the years since, we have seen a disturbing rise in antisemitic behaviour in the UK.
A year ago we witnessed a horrifying terrorist attack on the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation in Manchester, with further attacks against Jewish people and institutions since.
I want Britain’s Jewish community to hear this from me directly. We stand with you. Abuse and violence against you, in any form, will not be tolerated. Not on our streets, not online, not in our schools or universities.
That’s why we are funding protection for synagogues, schools and community buildings, and why we will come down hard on antisemitism wherever it is found - in classrooms, on campuses and in neighbourhoods.
At home, we are committed to protecting our citizens from vile hatred. Abroad, we continue to work towards a two-state solution, with Israelis and Palestinians living side by side in peace and security.
An attack on Jewish people in Britain is an attack on all of us. Antisemitism has no place in this country, and we will do everything we can to stamp it out.
