William Nylander says Sergei Bobrovsky made some huge saves tonight, but the team didn’t make it easy on him “He had some huge saves, we don’t make the game easy on him off of some of the goals. We just want to build our game. I think we had legs today and we were skating and creating chances, but we want to get back in the win column here at home.” 🎥: @MapleLeafs #leafs

Gavin McKenna says the Leafs need to hold themselves accountable for their lack of energy to start games, noting that it takes every player to set the tone and that energy can have a snowball effect throughout the team “Might just be an energy thing. Tough schedule, but at the end of the day, that’s the NHL. Each guy in this room has got to hold themselves accountable to being prepared. Even me being a young guy, I can try to influence that a little bit, have better starts to games, and hopefully that can snowball to my teammates.” 🎥: @MapleLeafs #leafs

Gavin McKenna says his teammates and head coach Jim Hiller spoke with him during the second intermission after his mistake, firing him up and reassuring him that he would get another chance in the third period “I obviously knew it was a mistake, and I knew I was probably going to sit for that one. My teammates came in during the second intermission and talked to me, and Jim pulled me aside as well. He told me he was going to get me out there again, which felt good. I appreciated that from him, and honestly, it fired me up. Just an unfortunate bounce.” 🎥: @MapleLeafs #leafs

Veteran defenceman Chris Tanev says the team needs to take responsibility following tonight’s loss, rather than putting the pressure on 18-year-old Gavin McKenna “It’s on the veterans to play better. It’s not on an 18-year-old.” Via @koshtorontosun #leafs

There is NO UPDATE on Riley’s health postgame, according to head coach Jim Hiller “He didn’t finish. Never a good sign.” Via @TheFourthPeriod #leafs
