Cherrypicking in applying the Rome Statute is incomprehensible. How can we expect third countries to enforce the ICC arrest warrant against Putin (which they should!) and then say we won’t enforce it against Netanyahu? Our credibility as a community of law is eroding.

Degoutant gewoon.

An end to the hostilities in Lebanon is urgently needed.
Like the Palestinians, the Lebanese know that you are lying. Like the Palestininas, the Lebanese know that Israel's leadership is as unscrupulous as eager to expand its genocidal violence to the region in order to maintain power and advance its settler-colonial agenda. Like the Palestinians, the Lebanese know that most of the Israeli society may simply be too hurt, traumatised or indoctrinated to see any alternatives beyond living in a perpetual state of war. Like the Palestinians, the Lebanese may be wondering why you are not in the #Hague yet.

People need to see this. Israel has perpetrated over 80% of the cross-border attacks with Lebanon during the past year. Hezbollah has shown remarkable restraint.
"What we see is a genocidal state that is completely out of control and supported by a Western world that is, in large measure, too racist and Islamophobic to care."
The @LemkinInstitute condemns Israel's terrorist attacks against Lebanese people in the past two days.
Using explosive pagers and walkie-talkies, it has killed 29 Lebanese people and wounded at least 3,200, including 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah and an 11 year-old boy.
While supporters of Israel claim that all victims were "terrorists," that claim does not appear to be borne out by the evidence. Certainly a 9-year-old and an 11-year-old were not "terrorists." Hezbollah, the ostensible "target" of the attacks, is not a simple "terrorist organization" engaged in criminal activity. It is also a political party and a service provider for southern Lebanon, so it includes civilian doctors, nurses, teachers, and so forth. Are they terrorists?
When does "collateral damage" become the point?
What we see is a genocidal state that is completely out of control and supported by a Western world that is, in large measure, too racist and Islamophobic to care.
Since yesterday's attacks, Israel has declared a "new phase" in its hopeless and destructive "war."
We call on all nations of moral conscience and sanity to intervene immediately to stop this slaughter of Arab peoples before the whole world is drawn down into the breathtaking moral collapse and darkness we all see before our eyes.
The genocide of Palestinians must stop. Israel's intentional escalation and expansion of violence must stop.
Since the UN is weak and the West is complicit, a concerted intervention for peace and justice must be made by a broad coalition from the Global South.
Without such an effort, regional and global war are not far off, and the wanton slaughter of all mankind will rule the day once more.

Was the Hezbollah pager attack lawful under jus ad bellum? A thread:
The legality of the attack has to be assessed under several different legal regimes - int'l humanitarian law (IHL), which regulates the conduct of hostilities in armed conflict, human rights law, and the legal regime governing the use of force, known as the jus ad bellum. ...1/14

Second day in a row #Israel terrorist attack on #Lebanon - committing war crimes as the world watches. Leaving the Lebanese with another trauma in the list of 2006, 2020, etc etc. Continuing their genocide as the world watches.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights @volker_turk on the pager attacks in #Lebanon and #Syria: "Simultaneous targeting of thousands of individuals, whether civilians or members of armed groups, without knowledge as to who was in possession of the targeted devices, their location and their surroundings at the time of the attack, violates international human rights law and, to the extent applicable, international humanitarian law. There must be an independent, thorough and transparent investigation as to the circumstances of these mass explosions, and those who ordered and carried out such an attack must be held to account."
Never again for anyone.
When will world leaders stop facilitating the lies that justify a genocide?

Lebanon is actively pushing back Syrian refugees, Syrians are being beaten up in public.
By contributing to humanitarian aid we have a powerful tool in our hands to stop these human right violations. Let’s use it.
Replying to @hadjalahbib
Lebanon is home to 250,000 Palestinian refugees and 1.5 million Syrians.
Belgium is contributing to humanitarian aid in Syria and to the reception of Syrian refugees in the region. (2/2)

De uitleg van De Croo over de niet-erkenning van de Palestijnse staat was niet veel meer dan een ingewikkelde manier om te zeggen dat Bouchez (weer eens) zijn zin gekregen had.
Palestine deserves full #UN membership.
Clear signal from the international community for the rights and freedom of Palestinian people, against the occupation.
