A Stronger SWAT Team, Thanks to an Incredible Community Supporter! Today, the LVMPD SWAT Team celebrated the ribbon-cutting of its newly renovated gym, made possible by a generous $50,000 donation from Jay Bloom! Thanks to Jay’s generosity, the gym has undergone a major transformation, providing our SWAT operators with an upgraded training facility to help them maintain the strength, conditioning, and physical readiness required to serve and protect our community. During the ceremony, SWAT operators had the opportunity to personally thank Jay for his unwavering support. The team presented him with a special plaque and LVMPD swag bag and even celebrated his upcoming birthday this Saturday! 🎂🎉 Jay, your generosity goes far beyond new equipment and an improved gym. It's an investment in the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep our community safe. On behalf of the entire LVMPD SWAT Team, thank you for your incredible support and commitment to those who serve! And, Happy Early Birthday, Jay!

SPECIAL BIRTHDAY CALL FOR OFFICER DJ! When duty calls, we answer… especially when it involves making a little boy’s birthday wish come true! Today, DJ turned 4 years old! 🎉 His mom shared a heartfelt post hoping a few Metro officers could stop by to celebrate with her little officer-in-training. Well, our officers saw her message and sprang into action. Not only did they stop by to wish DJ a happy birthday, but they also made sure to bring some special gifts. And the icing on the birthday cake? DJ got to climb into our Cybertrucks! Sometimes, the smallest moments make the biggest impact. For our officers, it was a chance to bring a little joy to someone's day. For DJ, we hope it was a birthday he'll never forget. Happy 4th Birthday, Officer DJ. Keep dreaming big, buddy. We can't wait to see what your future holds!

🚨 NEW TACTICAL OPERATIONS CENTER LVMPD has unveiled a new mobile Tactical Operations Center designed to enhance our team's response to critical incidents, including barricade situations, hostage rescues, and other high-risk emergencies. The upgraded vehicle features more than 11 video monitors, enhanced communication systems, expanded workstations, a 360-degree camera system, and dedicated space for crisis negotiators, intelligence personnel, and other specialists. Responding to more than 60 critical incidents each year, our SWAT team relies on effective communication, coordination, and timely decision-making to help bring dangerous situations to a safe resolution. This investment was made possible through federal funding secured by Congresswoman Susie Lee, along with the efforts of our SWAT, Logistics, and Finance personnel. The new Tactical Operations Center represents another important investment in protecting our officers and the residents and visitors of Southern Nevada.

A first accident can be frightening—especially when you’re 16. After a newly licensed teen became disoriented while leaving a shopping center near Centennial Center Boulevard and was involved in a minor crash, Traffic Officer Matthew Muzdeka stopped to help. Officer Muzdeka didn’t lecture the young driver. He calmly reassured him, checked on his tearful sister in the passenger seat and helped both teens regain their composure so they could safely drive home. Their mother later wrote to LVMPD to express her gratitude. The teens couldn’t remember the officer’s name, but our team was able to identify him. For the compassion and professionalism he showed that evening, Officer Muzdeka received the October Good Ticket Award from the LVMPD Foundation and Resorts World Las Vegas—along with a staycation package. Congratulations, Officer Muzdeka, and thank you for demonstrating how kindness can make a lasting difference. #LVMPD #GoodTicketAward #CommunityPolicing #LasVegas #ResortsWorldLasVegas #LVMPDFoundation

He knocked on Herbert Grossman’s door. Herbert let him inside. The witness never saw the man leave. Sometime between November 23 and November 26, 1990, 68-year-old Herbert Bertram Grossman was robbed and murdered inside his apartment at the Apple Apartments in Las Vegas. A witness described the visitor as a White man, 20 to 30 years old, approximately 6 feet tall, with a medium build and medium-dark hair. He wore a white button-down shirt and Levi jeans. Decades later, Herbert’s case remains unsolved—but someone may still remember the visitor, the missing property, or a detail they once believed was insignificant. Please watch. Please share. Help bring answers to Herbert’s family and justice to his memory. Anyone with information is urged to contact LVMPD Homicide at 702-828-3521.
