A Cleveland Police officer was deliberately struck by a car while trying to keep the public safe. Violence against our police officers is totally unacceptable. Anyone who targets an officer for doing their job should face the full force of the law.

āš ļø Under Labour's new plans, 100,000s of low-wage, low-skilled workers will be for eligible for indefinite leave to remain at a cost of Ā£10 BILLION. 🌳 Only The Conservatives can end mass immigration.

Labour are admitting what we suspected all along: they want to drag us back into the EU. They’ve never respected the referendum result. And now they want to overturn it. They think they know better than you.

Cleveland Police have the highest crime rate of any force in the country. So why has Cleveland lost 17 officers in a year? I've challenged Labour ministers. They owe Cleveland answers - and I won’t stop demanding them.

Slavery was an evil in which people from every continent and region participated. We should be honest about the whole history, not select the parts that are politically convenient today, especially given Britain's leading role in ending the transatlantic slave trade. If Caribbean countries are asking Britain for a formal apology for Britain’s role in the transatlantic slave trade, will they also be asking the same of the descendants of African kingdoms, rulers and merchants who captured, sold and profited from the trade? On demands for reparations, whether through cash or debt relief, we have been down this track before. Twenty-five years ago, Jubilee 2000, Drop the Debt and Make Poverty History argued that cancelling the debts of poorer countries would give them a fresh start. More than $100 billion of debt was eventually written off, but many of those countries have since built up even bigger debts. Labour are already spending too much on Britain's welfare state, now is not the time for Andy Burnham to be providing global welfare. There is no reason British taxpayers today should be held financially responsible for things that happened generations before any of us were born. And I have even less patience for political elites in commonwealth countries who don’t know how to make their own citizens prosperous now looking for another opportunity to blame Britain. As Prime Minister, Andy Burnham should be Britain’s greatest defender. Instead, he is writing articles saying we need to confront our history (as if we haven't done enough of that) and considering another formal historical apology. Tony Blair already expressed Britain’s deep sorrow and regret for our role in the slave trade nearly twenty years ago. There is no need to do so again. This is all another navel-gazing distraction. The Commonwealth should be looking forward, not endlessly backwards. That means economic partnerships to make us all richer and deeper military and security cooperation against common threats. If every Commonwealth summit becomes an exercise in presenting Britain with demands for cash then we need to start asking if it is worth the effort.

Despite the terrifying reality that Labour want to police our speech and thoughts in our pubs, this is yet another burden on hospitality. 111,000 people have already lost their hospitality jobs under this government. Only the Conservatives back our pubs šŸŒ³šŸŗ

🚨 Britain's national debt has ballooned under this Labour government. We now hold a debt of over £3 Trillion. It costs £267 Million a day just to service the interest. 🌳 Only the Conservatives have a fully costed plan to bring down spending and take back control of our economy.

There are 3 things that WHACK your taxes up: Pandemics. Wars. And Labour Governments. This budget proves that Labour aren’t serious about getting Britain working again.

An absolute disgrace! The Chancellor promised to cut welfare. Now he says Labour won’t reduce the benefits bill AT ALL this Parliament. Working people get hammered with tax, while Labour spend more and more on benefits. Only the Conservatives stand with working people.

ā€˜John Healey, if you’re listening, where’s my breathing space?’ Business owner Paul Bowen has criticised the Chancellor’s promise to give ā€˜breathing space’ through measures in his Budget. #budget #businesses #costofliving

Cleveland has the highest recorded crime rate in England and Wales. Yet Cleveland lost 17 police officers while 34 forces increased their numbers. How can Labour ministers defend that?

Labour’s answer to everything is to put taxes up. This Budget is more of the same. They’ve changed the face holding the red box. They still haven’t learnt that the country cannot be taxed into prosperity.

Labour's stealth taxes are set to amount to the single biggest tax increase in British history. This Budget does nothing to change that.

In this #Budget Labour could have cut taxes on work, fuel or VAT. Instead, they’re cutting tax on gherkins, cough drops and chocolate-coated waffles. Their own estimate is that these and other tariff cuts could save households less than 40p a week on food. Struggling families need real help, not ridiculous gimmicks.
