We're proud to work alongside CPS and appreciate their continued commitment to keeping youth safe and supported.
Runaways represent the largest category of missing person reports in Calgary. In the first three quarters of 2026, over 2,000 missing persons were classified as runaways, representing 54% of all missing person reports. 91% of those individuals were youth between 12 & 17. All have since been located.
This November, we are working alongside the @MCSCanada (MCSC) to raise awareness & support youth during National Runaway Prevention Month.
Through our ongoing partnership, we are committed to helping keep youth safe by strengthening community awareness, encouraging conversations & connecting youth & families with the resources & support they need.
If a young person goes missing:
💚 Report them missing immediately. You do not need to wait 24 hours.
💚 Provide their last known location, clothing description, known friends or associates, contact information & social media accounts.
💚 Share information about trackable technology, including phones, AirTags or tablets.
💚 Avoid speculation or spreading unverified information that could interfere with an investigation.
If you’re concerned about a young person in your life, pay attention, reach out & help connect them with support.
Changes in mood or behaviour, withdrawing from family and friends, or talking about leaving may signal a youth is struggling. No single sign means a young person plans to run away. Early conversations can help connect youth with support before a crisis. #NRPM2026

Have fun, make some memories, but maybe not the kind that involve a call to us.
👻 If you’re heading to a party, go with people you trust & stick together. Have a plan to get home safely, plus a backup plan just in case.
👻 Look out for your friends. If someone isn’t doing well or something doesn’t feel right, stay with them & get help.
👻 And remember, phones die. Memorize at least 1 important number so you always have someone you can call.
