Our VP of Strategic Partnerships and Campaigns, Chantelle Wilkinson, joined the Power Station Podcast to discuss the connection between renters, voting, and the democratic process.
During the conversation, Chantelle highlighted the gap in voter participation between renters and homeowners, noting that fewer than 50% of renters voted in the 2024 election, compared with nearly 70% of homeowners. She emphasized that renter participation in elections is essential to ensuring their voices are heard and advancing the affordable housing solutions our communities need.

#NLIHC is urging national, state, local, and Tribal organizations to join an organizational sign-on letter opposing a proposed U.S. Census Bureau rule change that threatens the accuracy and inclusivity of decennial census data. Accurate census data are essential to understanding communities’ needs and informing policies and resources that support low-income households and affordable housing. The letter focuses on the foreseeable negative impacts for housing policy if the proposed Census changes are adopted.

We’re excited to welcome Ta-Nehisi Coates, award-winning author and journalist, for a powerful conversation about systemic injustice, racial inequality, and the ongoing fight for housing justice.
Coates challenges us to confront the myths that shape our society and reckon with the difficult truths that continue to influence our lives. Through his writing and public conversations, Coates has explored the lasting impact of discriminatory housing policies, including the ways redlining and other forms of housing discrimination have shaped racial and economic inequality in America. His work invites us to examine how the legacy of these policies continues to affect communities today and why understanding this history is essential to building a more just future.
Join us at #Forum27 for a thought-provoking conversation that connects the past to the present, challenges our perspectives, and explores what it means to speak truth to power in the pursuit of a more equitable world: nlihc.org/events/2027-nlihc-…
