More affordable housing in more parts of the city!
Today, we’re announcing the 12 districts where the Affordable Housing Fast Track will soon take effect.
Starting Jan. 1, this voter-approved tool will make it easier to create affordable homes in the areas that add the least.
Housing used to be illegal to build here ❌
Thanks to new high-density R11 and R12 zoning districts mapped in the Midtown South Mixed-Use Plan, more than 75 homes — including income-restricted affordable ones — are coming to the heart of Manhattan! ✅

We're joining @NYCCouncil today alongside our partners at @NYCHousing to discuss our work to deliver on @NYCMayor's Block by Block housing plan.
More homes near transit = faster commutes and better access to jobs, schools, services and opportunity.
Great conversation with @UDFNYC today about how transit-oriented development can create a more affordable, connected NYC.
The Atlantic Avenue Mixed-Use Plan continues to deliver for Brooklyn!
Building permits were just filed to bring more than 200 homes and new retail to Atlantic Avenue.

By making it easier to create affordable homes in the places that have built the least, the Affordable Housing Fast Track will deliver new housing choices & lower costs.
Director Sherman joined @errollouis on @NY1 to share how it will help create a fairer, more affordable NYC:
When the Affordable Housing Fast Track goes into effect on January 1, eligible projects in these 12 community districts will go through a faster, 90-day review process.

Replying to @NYCPlanning
Despite a 1.4% vacancy rate citywide, these districts have each added just 12 new affordable homes per year over the last five years.
The result? New Yorkers have too few housing options, historic patterns of segregation persist, and our housing shortage gets worse.
The Affordable Housing Fast Track is just one tool we're using to create the housing New Yorkers need.
Through @NYCMayor's SPEED reforms, we're bringing many projects to public review in six months — down from 2 years!

More transit-oriented development could come to the Bronx!
Join today's City Planning Commission review session to learn about 1701 Boone Ave in Crotona Park East, which would create 105+ homes, including 25 permanently affordable ones, just blocks from transit & Starlight Park.
The CPC will also review a proposal to allow a new, non-flashing sign at the Black National Theatre in Harlem to increase visibility of its cultural programming.
Plus, the CPC will vote on ELURP and the Affordable Housing Appeals Board rulemaking.
