Here’s what I’ve got after a few mins of thought:
Keep:
* Gunplay
* Pacing
* Core gameplay loop (looting focus, shifting directives, odd/random loot discovery)
Change:
* Netcode - have to NAIL this down. One of Tarkov’s biggest, most glaring issues is the Netcode problems from day 1
* The “forever time gate” that permeates Tarkov months and years after the content has been done. Build a schedule that shortens the waiting for late-comers season to season.
* Get rid of the secure container or put it behind a quest chain (like hunger - in order to get it you have to finish a ~12-quest chain for the basic one and expanding it is a rather large talent point investment and it breaks when you die).
Add:
* Give us more. Have the world feel “lived in”. Not just a “hideout” but “settlements”. Group goals. Agriculture, built structures from heavy resource investment and/or modify the landscape with dynamic events that can be shaped based on meta-level actions of the playerbase and permanize them until the next wipe/season - think like old anarchy online where players modified the game because of player story arc events that “directed” the game at different time intervals. Ex: Create a huge crater on the moon because you couldn’t get to a large explosive in time, or advance a faction’s storyline more than an alternative, which decides the way the story goes. “Event”-ify the content, but make it dynamic (as opposed to “another scav labs event”).
* These could be community opposition goals where factions fight to see which side“wins”
* Have factions we can join
* Have benefits and consequences for who we decide to align ourselves with from those factions and MAKE US CHOOSE. - for example: if we align with the “corpo” element, then alienate us from the rebelling faction, BUT THEN give us better “augments” or tech or faction weapons (or a crafting/trader guild 👀) that clearly denote we’ve aligned with the corpos/rebels/traders/smugglers/etc. THAT WAY if/when the game wipes (assuming there is wipe style progression or seasons) there is automatically replayability by choosing different faction alignment and getting their tech or perks etc instead.
* Give us a more open economy that can be shaped by players. Hire an economist like Eve online.
* If we play Switzerland and try to make everyone happy equally, we never get peak gear from any of them. We just get “mid”.
* Lock out certain perks or abilities we could’ve otherwise learned because of decisions we made and factions we chose.
That’s some ideas off the cuff.
Excited to see what comes of the game.
I watch a lot of standup in my downtime.
I love the way comics think.
This guy’s line about a “thirsty thirsty butthole” is 🤌🤌
Ok so I went through (recorded) all of the quest steps and dialogue for hunger and catalogued all of the missives in the game.
Next Monday’s lore video is gonna be the lore of @GOODFUNHUNGER
So GCX gets a major private investor in May and then starts to heavily commercialize the space they’re renting for the con?
Yeah I’m gonna pass on this moving forward
I cannot tell you how much it pains me to say this.
As things currently stand, I will not be exhibiting at or attending GCX in 2027 or the indefinite future.
The event has restructured their pricing and is eliminating the option to purchase a large booth for artist alley (eliminating a discount that we did not know we had), raising the cost of my booth footprint (same case for @bansheebotpete and @RazorsEdgeRaz ) for the last few years by over 200%. Artists with smaller booths are also seeing hundreds of dollars in service downgrades.
While asking for clarification and seeking solutions, we have been treated with a baffling amount of disrespect by an employee of the show (to be clear, this is not directed at Shane, who has always advocated for artists and devs alike, he’s a gem). Veteran artists are being removed from spaces they helped to shape and then being lied about, having their character attacked. I don’t know how we got here.
This tone shift feels like a turn from community to capital and it's hard to ignore.
Between this sudden and concerning price increase and the failure to promote Artist Alley during my time as an exhibitor in any meaningful way, it just isn't an expense I can justify anymore. We aren’t even listed on the event page. There were no GCX-official promotional posts. I’m tired.
Let me be clear. I am crushed. I am gutted.
And still, I will never stop making Destiny art. That’s what this is about, at its core. This community means the world to me, and that passion will never leave me. With some adjustments in attitude and pricing, I would love to return someday.
If you've gotten yourself a ticket to GCX expecting to find me in Artist Alley, I am deeply sorry to say that you won't be seeing me there.
I'm going to really miss my morning commute.
I love @GOODFUNHUNGER but for the love of god and all that is holy can we PLEASE get a reconnect feature
I heard Doug has a massive hog AND is a sex-haver.
Disgraceful
