COP30 agreed to at least triple adaptation finance by 2035. Talks in Bonn to anchor it ended without a text, so COP31 opens in Antalya on 9 Nov with the question open. Africa’s ask: public, grant-based, predictable finance. #COP31 #ClimateFinance #PACJA

The ocean absorbs 90% of excess heat from emissions and ~25% of CO2. At Nairobi Convention COP12 today, PACJA co-hosted a side event with WWF and SWIOTUNA on the ocean-climate nexus for Africa. A thread. 🧵
Ocean belongs in Africa's climate agenda, not beside it. At Nairobi Convention COP12 (7 Oct), PACJA's Charles Mwangi joins @WWF & @swiotuna to build shared CSO priorities on ocean-climate linkages ahead of COP31 & COP32. #ClimateJustice #NairobiConventionCOP12 #OceanClimateNexus

More than 3/4 of NDCs reviewed at the UNFCCC Ocean Dialogue in Bonn now include an ocean-based measure. But high-impact mitigation — green shipping, fossil fuel phase-out, ocean renewables — is only ~12% of those commitments.
