Love to see Quinnipiac journalism grad @IAMCATMURPHY standing up for the first amendment!
Merrill College students know their rights as journalists.
"Cat Murphy is a master's student at the University of Maryland, credentialed as a reporter for our Capital News Service and doing the job we teach our students to do. Cat recorded openly in a public space alongside other news outlets, and that is her legal right," Dean Rafael Lorente (@DeanLorente) said. "I'm proud of how she handled herself in a difficult situation."
Check out the great new digital content creation programs in the journalism department and @QUSchoolofComm !

Congratulations to @QUSchoolofComm alum @TaylorPopielarz of Spectrum News for getting to ask the new White House press secretary a question at today's briefing!
I asked White House @PressSec what steps the Trump Administration is taking to address the conflict of interest that is @elonmusk running @DOGE as a "special government employee" while also owning companies that have billions of dollars in federal contracts:
"The president was already asked and answered this question this week. And he said if Elon Musk comes across a conflict of interest with the contracts and the funding that DOGE is overseeing, that Elon will excuse himself from those contracts," she told me.
(Appreciate @karolineleavitt allowing us in the back row of the briefing room to get some Qs in)
Mark your calendars, @quschoolofcomm students! Join us at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18 in the Open Air Studio to watch a live taping of “What’s Your Story?” Prof. @ProfessorNickP will be talking to journalist, author, and sports communications expert Dana O’Neil.
