New pay transparency rules are coming and the detail will matter for recruiters. Government plans would require salaries to be published with job adverts, with salary information provided before interview where a role isn’t advertised. The principle of greater transparency is welcome but it’s important the rules work in practice. The REC is already engaging with government and making the case that responsibility for accurate salary information must sit with employers, rather than agencies carrying the legal risk for information provided by their clients. We’re also pushing for clarity around temporary recruitment and how the proposals interact with existing agency regulation.
