Now that we all agree foie gras is bad and should be banned, let me introduce you to another bad thing:
It's called dairy.
It exploits cows and their babies and when H5N1 circulates in dairy herds, it has opportunities to adapt to mammals.
Researchers have already found a mutation in a cattle-associated strain that helps it replicate more efficiently in human airway cells in the lab.
On November 1, a Washington resident died from H5N1 complications after exposure at a dairy with infected cattle.

D.C.’s Initiative 86 and Denver’s Ordinance 311 both prohibit the sale of foie gras made by force-feeding ducks and geese, starting July 1, 2027. And it wasn’t close: D.C. voters backed it with roughly 3 in 4 votes, and Denver came in strong too. 💪
This is what animal protection looks like when voters get a say. Petitions signed. Doors knocked. Ballots cast. Laws won. ✅
