Good morning, I wrote something exceedingly personal for @nytimes on the scam that is romance

How reversible is this trend and what would it take?
We're reporting only a fraction of measles cases in the US; some estimates put it as low as 20% in states like PA. This outbreak is much larger than what's reported and is spilling into highly vulnerable communities like babies and pregnant women. We will lose our Measles elimination status this month, and it will take years of responsible public health management to get it back.

On days like today I really miss being on a big team of policy reporters. Someone please invite me to the group chat!
I’m grateful to Susie Wiles for her calm and inspiring leadership and wisdom. Susie brokered my partnership with President Trump in July 2024 and then spearheaded the campaign to get our team elected. She oversaw the transition process and helped me bring an extraordinary cadre of brilliant and disruptive leaders into HHS. Hers was the toughest job on earth, and she handled every crisis with patience, grace, and poise.
God bless you, Susie, and thank you for your friendship, which I treasure.
For the people in the back!!
I keep getting pitched on studies and reports or policy proposals, offering “exclusives” in exchange for having like 2-3 days to write it. This is bad PR strategy! Get in touch much earlier if you’re actually serious about coverage. And assume we are already in the middle of something, can’t just abandon that assignment, and probably have our next story lined up too. Offering a coverage opportunity but with no time to really report on it signals to me you don’t want serious engagement and want to shape it as a press release. Maybe that is what you want but odds of getting a yes dramatically lower
I love that @MattZirwas reached out with his thoughts. If you have your own letter to the editor in you, please let us know!
When smart physicians like @MattZirwas reach out to say they disagree with one of our writers’ takes - in this case our very own @RuthReader - we respond.
And this led to our first letter to the editor column.

EXCLUSIVE - Top RFK Jr. ally and adviser Calley Means has quit the Trump administration.
Means was frustrated by White House delays of some of Kennedy’s popular food policies and blamed others in the administration for allowing food companies and special interests to have too much sway, people familiar with the matter said.
One of them described him as “disillusioned.” wsj.com/politics/policy/call…
FYI: @chrissyfarr and I are hosting a policy summit next. Reach out with thoughts and ideas 👀
Not to give too much away but I do want my next intimate convening to be focused on the intersection of health-tech and policy.
If you think this sounds like something you'd want to be involved in, let myself or @RuthReader know.

Our hackathon focused on improving kicked off with a founder sharing the story of losing his mom in an ER waiting room.
We built demos in an hour to fix the ER experience. The participants’ backgrounds are diverse by design with one ER provider per team.
The perfect way to kick off our summit.
