Thank you for your leadership in this serious public safety issue. America will be safer once this vote takes place.
Congratulations to Edsel Taylor, the longest serving warden in U.S. history, on his induction to the SC Law Enforcement Officers Hall of Fame on Wednesday!
Mr. Taylor worked for more than 50 years at the South Carolina Department of Corrections, serving at five different institutions. As warden at MacDougall Correctional Institution, he created a dedicated veterans housing unit and the first chapel in a South Carolina prison. Earlier this year he was awarded the Order of the Palmetto.

Congratulations, Capt. Johnson. From Director Joel Anderson: “We’re here to fight for you because you fought for us.” #WeAreCorrections
As part of Freedom 250, United States Attorneys’ offices are honoring a Hometown Hero.
Today, we were proud to recognize Captain Robert Johnson.
As a @SCDCNews captain, he embodied integrity and dedication. Sixteen years ago, inmates targeted him for strictly enforcing contraband rules. Sean Echols ambushed Johnson in his home, shooting him six times and leaving him for dead. Captain Johnson miraculously survived and has since endured 37 surgeries.
SLED and @FBIColumbia investigated, and Assistant U.S. Attorneys Stacey Haynes and William Witherspoon prosecuted Echols, who was sentenced to 20 years in federal prison in 2014.
Thank you, Captain Johnson—you are truly our hometown hero.
