£27 million a year on 800 jobs that don’t exist. The SNP clearly have no respect for taxpayers’ money. The Scottish Conservatives would scrap the SNP’s reckless no compulsory redundancy policy.

The SNP have no respect for taxpayers.
Arrogant SNP are laughing at Scotland's taxpayers👇 800 civil servants whose jobs 'NO LONGER EXIST' are on the state payroll ... Because of the SNP 'no compulsory redundancy' rule.

Andy Burnham has time for Gogglebox. Does he have time to govern? The Budget is where we discover what he believes, what his plan costs and who is going to pay for it. Being convivial is no substitute for being in charge. My piece in The Times👇

Careers destroyed. Officers left in limbo for years. Dismissals overturned when the damage can never be undone. As I ask in today’s @Sunday_Post: why does no one in Police Scotland’s senior management ever seem to pay a price when disciplinary failures wreck an officer’s life? Decent officers are being failed. Those unfit to wear the uniform must be removed. This broken system fails on both counts. Yet @neilcgray has laid regulations before Parliament that deny most ranks independently chaired hearings for gross misconduct allegations. Nearly six years after ministers accepted reform, they are still refusing to deliver it. I will challenge this in the @SP_Justice. Ministers and the most senior police officers must answer for the failures they expect everyone else to live with. @ladymcbeth2 in The @Sunday_Post ⬇️ #BuyANewspaper

The SNP Scottish Government makes taxpayers fund public sector workers £27m for jobs that don’t exist. £27m 👀 With cost of living pressures forcing people to make tough choices, taxpayers deserve clear evidence that public funds are used to deliver value for money.

The SNP no compulsory redundancy policy is making Scotland’s public sector a laughing stock. It must be scrapped.
Major investigation from The Sunday Times - the Scottish state is paying a minimum of £27m a year to around 800 public sector workers, in the NHS, councils, police etc who do not have a job, but they cannot be made redundant owing to SNP policy thetimes.com/uk/scotland/art…

The growing threat to our national security must be taken seriously. Britain must rearm to defend the peace. @KemiBadenoch and the @Conservatives are the only party with a serious plan: defence spending at 3% of GDP by 2030, paid for through welfare reform and changes to spending priorities. The danger is real. We must face it and act. Delay puts our country at risk. telegraph.co.uk/news/2026/10…

‘Flex fiscal rules’ is sleight of hand from a Chancellor dancing on the edge of a precipice. As @griffitha says, this Budget is the last chance to get serious instead.
I predicted the Chancellor's Budget would try to use loopholes in his fiscal rules to spend even more taxpayers money. We are walking along a fiscal cliff edge. Sooner or later a Chancellor has to get a grip on the public finances. Doesn't sound like it's going to be this one. 🧵(see below)

If the Greens do (and they should), this would leave the SNP as the only luddite anti-nuclear power party in Scotland. The SNP’s energy policy is just not serious.

Utter woke madness. Even Egyptian mummies are being cancelled now! Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Museum has removed mummies from display, citing a lack of consent from the dead. Museums should be showcasing history, not hiding it to appease political correctness.

Approving Jackdaw is a welcome first step, but Rosebank must be next. Let’s get Britain drilling to protect Scottish jobs, bring down energy bills and strengthen our energy security.

7 days ago, the Prime Minister made a speech about his plans for regional devolution in Scotland. It was full of ideas and no detail. Since then....silence. We've had no more information, no statement in Parliament to allow us to question the plans, no opportunity for people and councils across Scotland to get clarity. I have written to the Secretary of State for Scotland asking him set out what the Prime Minister is planning in detail.

Ofgem have today revealed that Britain might not have enough gas in a worst case scenario this winter. Burnham says that it's better to produce oil and gas in Britain than importing it. So why is he banning new licences? Here’s the real reason we need to get Britain drilling👇

Food price caps are a ridiculous idea. The SNP had no idea how they’d work when they announced them (during the election campaign…), they’d no idea of what unintended consequences might be, and they still have no idea on these now. But they did gave them a great opportunity to pick a fight with Westminster, to point fingers at businesses and to divert attention from their long list of other failures. A classic dead cat strategy.
