During California's intense heat wave earlier this month, home batteries delivered 745 MW of average power to the state’s grid for several hours, setting a new record for the largest residential distributed power plant dispatch in U.S. history. On back-to-back nights, Sunrun and Tesla answered the call from the CA Energy Commission to support the grid and put downward pressure on energy prices. In addition to strengthening grid reliability, Sunrun also puts money back in the pockets of households that share their energy with the grid.
