If I wasn't working for ProPublica, I'd take this straight to my engineering team. propublica.org/nerds/reader-…
I just realized: This is my first election since 2016 I haven’t spent in the @washingtonpost newsroom. Wild.
Can I jump on the @jacobbogage hype train?
Great guy. Ace journalist. Terrific colleague.
Ahead of next week’s midterms, President Trump has empowered his loyalists to try to transform the voting process.
Here are five takeaways from @propublica's reporting on the administration’s efforts to exert federal control over elections. ⬇️ propublica.org/article/midte…

Someone made a site that tracks what people are talking about at public city council meetings across the US.
The only thing discussed more than data centers?
Pickleball courts.

For @testudotimes, @JudeWilkenfeld and I were outside Jones-Hill House trying to get players to comment. An athletics staffer took pictures of us, and a police dispatch was called for suspicious activity; a cop and 2 cop cars pulled up, and officers ID’d us and asked us to leave.

New: The Trump administration committed the U.S. to taking a large stake in a Venezuelan company, some of whose owners and investors are shielded from public view. The exact details of the agreement over oil fields had remained unclear — until now. propub.li/3UdAtIG

NEW: Trump’s mega Venezuelan oil deal, signed by Hegseth and Rubio, benefits an unknown group of investors and was intentionally crafted to keep the next U.S. president or future leaders of Venezuela from undoing it. @propublica saw the secret contract: propublica.org/article/trump…

In August, Trump announced the “BIGGEST OIL DEAL IN WORLD HISTORY!”
But is it?
The text of the accord — which grants the U.S. sweeping access to Venezuela’s oil reserves — has been one of DC’s most sought-after secrets.
ProPublica got to see a copy. 🧵
NEW: The U.S. oil deal could be a financial windfall for stakeholders of the private Venezuelan firm the Trump administration is buying a large stake in. But the investors in the enterprise are anonymous, shielded behind a holding company in Barbados.

People remember you not just by the quality of what you do, but the way you do it. The way you move through the world and treat people. So many stories about Ann speak to her generosity.

While clearly wearing a flak jacket with "PRESS" in big letters, Heidi Levine (@Heidiphotos) was beaten and had all her photo equipment stolen by Israeli settlers. Not "knocked down and immediately helped to her feet" ... as per this statement.
The Prime Minister’s Office:
The facts surrounding the confrontation near Abu Falah, during which Washington Post photojournalist Heidi Levine was allegedly assaulted, remain unclear and are under investigation.
Israel unequivocally condemns violence against anyone—Jews, Arabs, Christians or journalists. Those responsible will be held accountable.
But serious questions remain. Reports indicate some 200 Arabs and far-left activists confronted approximately 40 Israeli youths. Footage shows masked individuals on both sides hurling objects, amid reports of fireworks fired at Jewish youths. Other footage appears to show Levine knocked down and immediately helped to her feet by the same unidentified individual.
The investigation must establish the facts, including who initiated the violence.
We will not allow disputed incidents to be exploited to demonize the hundreds of thousands of law-abiding Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria.
The facts must determine the conclusions. Not the headlines.
