Meet Tuqa and Eva 💙 Two brave girls facing cancer, each with her own way of expressing herself. Eva gradually found the confidence to open up, while Tuqa turned to her love of drawing to explore her feelings through colors and creativity. “Sometimes, art, play, music, and a safe space can do what words cannot. They open the door to connection and expression,” says Samah, who supports children through the challenges of treatment. Because care goes beyond treatment. Every child deserves space to create, grow, and feel supported. Thank you to our dedicated social workers, department staff, and supporters like you for keeping this care going. 💙

Four Hours of Surgery. New Hope for Othman and His Brother. Four-year-old Othman was born with a rare and complex urological condition. His planned surgery was delayed by the war, leaving him without access to the specialized care he needed. During PCRF’s Gaza EMT Mission #31, from August 24 to September 9, 2026, pediatric surgeon Dr. Mohamed Hamed successfully performed one of the mission’s most complex procedures: a four-hour surgery at Al-Shifa Hospital. Othman’s brother also underwent surgery during the mission, bringing renewed hope for a healthier childhood to both brothers. Joined by Dr. Khaled Salah, Pediatric Surgery, and Dr. Hassan Abdelmaksoud, Anesthesia, the team conducted 173 screenings, 70 surgeries, and 105 pain-management interventions at Al-Shifa and Nasser hospitals.

For Gaza’s children, the trauma does not end when the immediate danger passes. After years of fear, displacement, loss, injury and uncertainty, children are living with the psychological impact of a crisis that continues to shape their daily lives. On #WorldMentalHealthDay, we recognize the extraordinary work of PCRF’s mental health teams in Gaza, who continue to stand beside children and families — providing psychological support, safe spaces, and care designed to help children cope, recover and reconnect with a sense of safety and hope. Mental health care is not secondary to recovery. It is an essential part of helping Gaza’s children heal. Your support helps us continue this critical work.

Every child deserves access to the medical care they need, no matter where they live. 💙 Yet for many children in underserved communities, accessing specialized surgical care remains a challenge. Through the generosity of our global community of supporters, PCRF is helping bridge that gap, ensuring that children who need essential surgical care have the opportunity to receive it. 🧵 See the thread below to meet Yamen, Omar, Ahmad, and Mateen. Each has a different story, but they share something important: the chance to receive the care they needed, made possible by the generosity of people who chose to help. Their stories show what we can accomplish together. And there are more children who need our help. Join our global community of supporters and help make essential surgical care possible for more children.
