Yesterday in Malibu, as I was leaving the beach, I noticed a whole family hiding behind my car. Now of course I needed to know what was going on. 👀Haha. The dad tells me his daughter is about to get engaged, and that’s when I realized… WAIT! It was the same couple I had been sitting near on the beach! So naturally, because I’m nosy, I stayed to watch.🤣 The whole time he’s taking selfies and pictures of her, I’m thinking, “Okay, but how are you gonna get this girl to turn around?!” Then he starts fixing her hair and tells her to look out at the water so he can get a picture from the back. I said, okayyyy sir… SMOOTH! 👏🏾 By the time I made it back to my car, the family had already left, so I didn’t get a chance to share the video with them. Now I need the internet to do its thing! Thank you all for the birthday love. ❤️ Tuesday was special. From my friends coming over the night before so I could actually take a relaxing shower while they watched Momma, to catching up with friends I haven’t seen in a while, to a surprise day trip where I had no clue where I was going… a time was had. I’m especially laughing at everyone trying to rush me into the shower when I got back home the next day. The caregiver in me went straight to Momma’s room the second I walked in the door, not realizing they were trying to get me away from the living room while the masseuse snuck in and got set up. 😂 Meanwhile, I was in there trying to do medications and take vitals. Thank you to everyone who made me STOP and do something for myself. Thank you for every call, text, prayer, and kind thought. My heart is full. 🫂

A lot of people DM me and ask, “How do you do it? How do you care for your mom and still have a career?” The answer is God. Because anything else is beyond me. This is a real life moment from last night. Around 1 AM, my mom started screaming. And this has been happening for the last month, almost 24 hours a day. I don’t know the last time I’ve had more than three hours of sleep without being awakened by her screams or cries. I wait until she goes to sleep to do my tapes, then try to move fast before she wakes up and starts screaming again. I sleep with earplugs now, but only one, because I have to be able to tell the difference between an involuntary scream and a pain scream. My brain is never off. Yes, it’s hard to be creative. But it’s still possible. This is dementia. And this is what it looks like trying to be a working actor and a caregiver at the same time. If you’re in this too, I see you. You are not alone. ❤️ Ps. Get creative with your hair too because I literally had no time to do my hair for this and tape it before momma started screaming… 🫠 Thank you @maneassisthair for coming over after a full day of work and helping me tape multiple auditions and trying to soothe my mom at the same time. #MyTribe🫂 #Caregiving #Dementia #Alzheimers #MultipleSclerosis
