Something terrifying has just happened in France.
The government has cancelled a conference on remigration that had been planned for months, on the pretext that… it was Halloween.
@MartinSellner_ has just been expelled and issued an order to leave French territory almost immediately after entering France, in my country, where it is supposedly “impossible” to deport foreign nationals who are repeat convicted rapists.
My own country scares me.
We are witnessing an authoritarian turn unfolding right before our very eyes.

In 1977 an Old Bailey jury in the Notting Hill Carnival trial sat for 170 hours and 23 minutes.
A later case in 2007, Operation Crevice, took 27 days (~135 hours), also at the Old Bailey.

It's important to note that there is no time limit for a jury to reach a majority decision in England and Wales. They have as much time as the judge deems reasonable.
If no decision is reached, we have a hung jury.

If no unanimous decision can be reached, the judge will direct the jury to a majority decision phase. A majority decision is when a 10-2 or 11-1 split is reached.
