I wish I could buy one of these cats affordably for a pet... I bet like the "Maine Coon" they'd be a really good breed & make good pets.

I decided to check on a package from Amazon to see where it was at, said delivered... I go to my front porch, not there.. Go to my mail box.. it's crammed in there! Check who delivered it.. "usps".. of fucking course!?

You know, where I get the option, I literally use ANYTHING but usps... & I wish AMAZON, would give me the option of who I want the carrier to be. I'm so SICK of the local usps just being dogshit lazy when it comes to deliveries..

My logic is simple, with the package.. IF YOU HAVE TO WEDGE IT, to make it fit in a large mailbox.. Then from my perspective, maybe it should just be put on the porch instead!? Of course since USPS doesn't suffer any real consequences from complaints..... insufferable.

Carvana is slowly gaining marketshare over dealers and I think it's great Buyers would rather gamble on a used car they've never seen clicking a button online than sit at a dealership for 4 hours getting screwed by a "finance manager" hard selling you the paint protection
Carvana just sold 217,385 cars in one quarter: Up 39% from a year ago. The rest of the industry... About *flat*. 8 straight quarters of ~40% growth. Do with this information what you will... (Source: Carvana Q3 earnings)

it amazes me that they raised the bridge, added a million signs to it, flashing lights, a warning alarm, and a passthrough, and people still fuck it up. If IQ testing were required for a driver's license, yearly vehicular deaths would probably drop to near zero.

A new injectable gel can rebuild worn-out spinal discs instead of just masking the pain. Doctors working with US company ReGelTec are testing an injectable gel called Hydrafil for people whose spinal discs have worn down with age. The discs are the cushions between your vertebrae, and as they dry out and flatten, they can cause years of back pain. Hydrafil is injected through a needle as a warm liquid, then firms up at body temperature into a water-rich, rubbery cushion that refills the damaged disc and restores its height. In a study of 60 patients, average back pain scores fell from 7.3 to 2.1 out of 10 after a year, and disability scores dropped sharply too. Today, most treatments for worn discs manage symptoms with painkillers, injections or physical therapy, and the last resort is surgery to fuse or replace the disc. A gel that rebuilds the cushion itself could offer something in between. The early study had no comparison group, and five patients needed a procedure to remove gel that had shifted. A larger trial against a placebo procedure is underway, and the FDA has granted it Breakthrough Device status to speed its review. source: Clerk-Lamalice, O., et al. Pain Physician. As reported in Injectable gel rehydrates collapsed spinal discs. Engineerine.

"One sees humanity as a problem to administer. The other sees humanity as a force to unleash. ... The question is no longer how to distribute scarcity. It's what you'll do with abundance." I know what I want to do.
People don't realize how obsolete Bill Gates' vision for managing humanity has become. For 30 years, the dominant model was simple: the world is a scarcity problem. Not enough food, not enough doctors, not enough energy, not enough of everything. So you need a central brain. Global institutions, foundations, summits, top-down programs. Experts in Geneva and Seattle deciding what billions of people eat, how they farm, what they need. That model made sense in a world of scarcity. That world is ending. In the next few years, abundance arrives through robotics. Not in theory. In your house. Optimus is already in early production on a high-volume line in Fremont. Picture what a humanoid robot does once it lives with you. It cooks your meals with whatever is in the fridge. It runs your vegetable garden. Plants, waters, weeds, harvests. Every single day, never forgets. It builds your furniture. Show it a photo, it measures the room, cuts the wood, assembles. It fixes the leak, repaints the wall, redoes the tiles. And if you want, it teaches you to do it yourself. Not because you have to. Because you enjoy it. Craft becomes a pleasure, not a necessity. Now zoom out. When a robot can grow food in your backyard, build in your garage and repair in your home, a huge part of production comes back home. Back to the village. Back to the region. Supply chains spanning four continents to make a chair? Obsolete. Food systems dictated by a handful of global actors? Challenged. Dependence on centralized programs to "feed the world"? Fading. Globalization was a solution to the scarcity of labor and skills. Robotics removes that scarcity. And when scarcity disappears, the need for central planners disappears with it. The funny part: Gates himself said that making things, moving things and growing food will become "basically solved problems." He sees the abundance coming. He just still imagines it being managed from the top. That's the blind spot. Because the stack that delivers abundance isn't being built in Geneva or Davos. It's being built in Fremont, Starbase and Memphis. Look at what Musk is assembling. Optimus: physical labor. Food, building, repair, care. Grok: intelligence. A brain that plans, teaches and advises, available to everyone. X: information. A real-time global square no institution controls. X Money: value. Payments and savings native to the network. SpaceX and Starlink: connectivity anywhere on Earth, even off-grid. And beyond Earth. Labor. Intelligence. Information. Money. Connectivity. That's the full stack of a civilization. And every layer pushes power toward the individual, not the center. The globalist project was: centralize to manage scarcity. The new stack is: decentralize because scarcity is over. One sees humanity as a problem to administer. The other sees humanity as a force to unleash. You don't need a global governance plan for people who can feed, house and educate themselves with a robot, an AI and a satellite dish. That's why Gates' vision is obsolete. Not evil. Not a conspiracy. Obsolete. Like a fax machine. Built for a world that is disappearing. The 20th century asked: who will manage humanity? The 21st century answers: humanity will, with the right tools. The question is no longer how to distribute scarcity. It's what you'll do with abundance.

A delete function for the immune system would be incredibly valuable.
Today, in collaboration with Anthropic, we’re excited to share rapid initial progress towards an antibody treatment for food allergy, which affects over 200 million people worldwide, discovered with the help of Claude. At Divergence Labs, we believe that AI can unlock the next generation of antibody therapeutics with more effective mechanisms than before. Such mechanisms are urgently needed in food allergy, which involve overcoming one of the tightest affinity protein pairs in immunology, IgE and its receptor FcεRI, on mast cells. Treatment with Xolair—the only approved antibody for food allergy—sequesters circulating IgE, but mast cells remain sensitized for weeks to months due to the extraordinarily slow dissociation of IgE from FcεRI. We envision a treatment that actively pulls IgE off of FcεRI, without waiting for natural dissociation. Like picking a lock, this requires the right combination of geometry and force. Our research team, working with Claude, ideated on mechanisms to accomplish this disruption, and converged on an antibody format with two arms with different functions and epitopes. Within one month, we designed, synthesized, and experimentally confirmed the biophysical function of the two arms, which we are now assembling into full therapeutic formats.

This is SO utterly depressing- - - I wish I could go back in time & buy my PC parts... Had no idea their was gonna be this weird goldrush toward "LLM"....
A 32GB DDR5 RAM kit bought for just $110 in 2024 is now listed for over $1,500. 🔗 wccf.tech/1lgdp That's a price difference of approximately 1,285%, or nearly 14 times the original purchase price.

Yeah... those were the times I wish we could get back...
remember when google search was uncannily good and could find exactly what you were looking for even from a really vague prompt? i'm reminded of those times, as i have been looking for a particular meme for like 30 mins now and it hasn't even gotten close
10
Welp, thanks for the depression?
SK Hynix just dropped their latest earnings, and one detail stands out. All of their HBM and DRAM production is completely booked until 2029. Any new orders placed right now will only be delivered in 2030. This basically means zero price drops for RAM and everyday consumer devices until 2030. Hardware is as cheap today as it is going to get.

That's an amazing statistic. . . "No Income Tax" & they managed to do this!
Between 1820 and 1900, real GDP per capita in the United States grew eightfold. No welfare state. No central bank. No income tax. The federal government consumed less than 3% of GDP for most of that period, and the results speak for themselves. Secure property rights, contract enforcement, and a commodity-backed dollar created the conditions where capital formation exploded. Entrepreneurs knew that what they built, they kept. John D. Rockefeller drove kerosene prices from 58 cents per gallon in 1865 to under 8 cents by 1885, delivering affordable light to millions of ordinary households, not through government mandate but through relentless productive competition. Real wages for manufacturing workers doubled between 1860 and 1890. Immigration surged because workers across Europe calculated, correctly, that their labor earned more in Philadelphia or Pittsburgh than anywhere in the old world. Markets made that signal clear. Critics point to inequality, child labor, and dangerous working conditions, ignoring that mass poverty preceded industrial capitalism. Andrew Carnegie's Pittsburgh was brutal, but it was also dramatically better than the subsistence farming the workers' grandparents had endured. The railroad network grew from 9,000 miles in 1850 to over 160,000 miles by 1890, financed almost entirely by private capital once you exclude the genuinely corrupt land-grant subsidies, which free market thinkers condemned at the time. State intervention produced scandals; private lines produced the freight. Minimal government produced the fastest sustained material improvement in recorded human history to that point.

In laymans terms, Titanium implants are strong and the body accepts them, but they’re way too stiff because the metal takes almost all the pressure, the real bone next to it gets lazy and starts to weaken over time (like a muscle that doesn’t get used). This was the issue with earlier titanium implants and joint replacements the new implant though are made from a special zinc alloy shaped like a lightweight, sponge-like lattice it is flexible and almost like real bone, so it shares the load properly and doesn’t cause that weakening problem Whats REALLY fucking cool is that its also designed to dissolve over time So its a temporary implant, and as it dissolves, it releases minerals and ions that actually promote your new, healthy bone in its place When the job is done, the implant is mostly gone and your own bone has taken over and is the proper strength -medical engineering is a marvel
today while talkin to my friend (who’s a doctor) I learned something really crazy That the titanium implants don't just sit in bone they actually bone grows into them the oxide layer on titanium surface is chemically close enough to biological tissue that cells can't find the boundary so they erase it osseointegration isn't the implant holding on it's biology deciding the metal belongs there the skeleton adopts the foreign object as its own Cyborg vibes
