The session focused on Addressing Rising Lake Waters (Backflow) through the Barbados Implementation Modalities (BIM). Participants received an in-depth overview of the FRLD, the BIM framework, and its guiding principles, highlighting practical pathways for translating global climate finance mechanisms into locally responsive action. Discussions took a sectoral approach to Loss and Damage, examining impacts and response options across education, social protection, agriculture, water resources, road infrastructure, and population mobility. These conversations emphasized the interconnected nature of climate risks and the need for integrated, people-centered solutions. County-specific scenarios and priority actions were also explored for Nakuru, Kisumu, Busia, and Turkana counties, all of which are experiencing significant impacts from rising water levels. Participants identified context-specific challenges, shared lessons from the ground, and proposed priority interventions to inform the FRLD funding request. The day concluded with technical discussions on climate change attribution, strengthening the evidence base required to link observed losses and damages to climate change and to support credible, data-driven funding proposals. The workshop marked a critical step toward enhancing Kenya’s preparedness to access Loss and Damage finance and to protect vulnerable communities affected by rising water levels. #LossAndDamage #ClimateFinance #RisingWaterLevels
