A 23-year-old mom spent a month in jail, lost her job, and missed her kid’s birthday because a $2 police test kit mistook leftover SpaghettiOs for crystal meth.
Ashley Huff told cops the dried sauce on a spoon was pasta. The cheap chemical pouch said otherwise, and the system took a plastic vial over common sense.
The Quattrone Center found these kits trigger 30,000 wrongful arrests a year with up to a 38% failure rate to this day.

I had a classmate who lost his father in the same exact way. A very kind sikh man who was working late at the gas station he owned and was gunned down bc the murderer thought he was muslim.

On September 15, 2001, Balbir Singh Sodhi was planting flowers outside his Arizona gas station when Frank Roque pulled up and fatally shot him. Roque wanted revenge for 9/11 and mistook Sodhi, a Sikh man, for a Muslim because of his turban.
Sodhi became the first person killed in a post-9/11 retaliatory hate crime, marking the beginning of a devastating wave of violence against Muslims, Sikhs, Arabs, South Asians, and other brown Americans.
