Life Update: I'm no longer at Magic Eden. An incredible, wild run. Grateful for the incredible team and partners who made it special. Proud of what we accomplished during my tenure - launched 10+ EVM chains, launched Packs, launched so many NFT projects, and more.

It has become everything that normies always thought it was
Lately it’s been hard to come to grips with the fact that the crypto world I grew up in and loved is mostly gone and I don’t fit in with or relate to what’s popular in crypto anymore Hopeful that this will change one day but I’m not going to hold my breath

Opensea caught most of the ire for this But this is literally what happened. Blur just nuked it for everyone because they could
Blur never enabled fees or anything which is wild because it means they just killed NFTs for the love of the game

Somewhere in the last four years, crypto as an industry abandoned the utopian ideals and technical ambition of building a New Internet™️ and pivoted to Gambling Technology In the process, the best and brightest moved on and we're left with the loudest and least qualified
$400m worth of crypto at a private invite only pumpfun party (but you wouldn’t know it)

the ai founder obsession with restaurant reservations as an important use case does remind me of nft bros talking about ticketing in 2021.. like yes, it is marginally better i guess but it’s really just not a *real* problem anyone has
Instinct CEO Noah Shinn says agents will let restaurants give tables to birthdays and anniversaries over whoever clicks first "And traditionally, because of the way that the internet has worked, at least for reservations, it's been first come first serve. So anyone that comes in, no matter how important or how not important it might be, whoever gets in first gets the reservation." "But what if you had the ability for the agent to be able to communicate on both sides, communicate, hey, this is important. This is actually the person's spouse's birthday, the 30th birthday, a very special event is coming up." "And the restaurant too can say, let's actually prioritize birthdays or major decade birthdays or major anniversaries or these certain people, I don't know, whatever it might be, right?" "So now with the ability, with all of the logistical burden of having to describe exactly what your case is and what's happening and why it's important. Now we have the ability to perfectly match what does the restaurant want? What does the user want?" "And that will result in more special events for the users being able to actually have a spot in the restaurant."

FOMO is the best crypto app of all time already tbh. Good take
A couple weeks ago I had an aha moment about FOMO and social trading I realized it's where everything will converge. Coins, chains, perps, social, all in the same place It's attractive for beginners, whales, trenchers, anyone It's how 99% of the population will trade crypto

I'd venture to say I'm more left-leaning that most of my mutuals here but the ai psychosis stuff is becoming parody at this point I can agree most generative ai is hack but if you're actually saying CURING CANCER is not worth it you've lost the plot

Crypto taught me this. A lot of the vision was built around nice-to-haves, not real problems. Ticketing was the perfect example. Is a verifiably real, collectible ticket nice-to-have? Sure. But for most Ticketmaster users, “is my ticket real?” was never the problem.
Being a Founder™️ is actually easy if you are trying to do Good and build a Good Product that solves Real Problems Too many fake founders and companies out there selling solutions to problems almost no one has
