Researchers in the #FunabikiLab have devised a way to visualize molecules that are very rare, very small, or hard to produce naturally—including some viruses. @eLife #RockefellerScience rockefeller.edu/news/37486-n…

Excited that our work on transcription-coupled DNA repair is now published @CellCellPress! We recapitulated TC-NER in Xenopus egg extract and identified STK19 as a core repair factor that couples stalled Pol II to TFIIH. 🧬🐸 ➡️ cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092…

Beyond thrilled to present our O-MAP—now *published* @naturemethods (!!!) O-MAP is a powerful new method for biochemically "dissecting" the subcellular microenvironment around an RNA of interest, using off-the-shelf parts and standard manipulations. 🧵 nature.com/articles/s41592-0…

Another story in four parts. You can surface sterilize used soda bottles and they make GREAT baffle flasks for microbial protein production. Two orders of magnitude in savings and minimal effort to sterilize with dilute bleach + distilled water rinse. RFP in various volumes @ 37C

In 80% of cases, I came up with a solution for a problem in a shower, washing dishes, swimming in the pool, contemplating canvas in a museum, etc. The other 20% is during conferences or seminars and while reading papers. I never was able to find a solution for a serious problem by sitting in a chair and deliberately thinking about it. When I do this I find myself in a stalemate with my thoughts running in circles. nature.com/articles/d41586-0…

The Citizen Kane of Cell Division. Walther Flemming published this time-lapse of a dividing cell in 1882. He drew the data by hand while looking in his microscope. Also, I think he was a futurist, as he imaged what confocal data would look like..... #CellBiology

Our review on using single-molecule correlative force and fluorescence microscopy to study protein-DNA interactions is out! Honored to share our perspective on this fast-growing field. Thanks to @AnnualReviews for the open access volume 👍🏼 doi.org/10.1146/annurev-biop… @BadAtCloning
