Tl;dr: community involves all parties, and I’m really tired of seeing so many readers talk about how fandom is community driven when you guys don’t treat writers as a part of that community. Writers are not upset about credit, they’re upset about being reduced to content.

It's always about 'me'. "I am shy to leave comments", "I don't want people to see my kudos", "I won't read longfics until they're finished". And then they complain that less people write meaningful things and the tropes are repetitive.

If you do not want ao3 to turn into a wasteland filled with 3 enthusiasts and 500+ ai bots in future, please go and give local writers some appreciation. Practice gratefulness.

We create art, write fanfiction, we recommend this game to the others. We are the ones to replay it because why not. Choosing to turn a canon gay romance into a 'queerbait' and hide it away so that guys with issue wouldn't get upset is a shot in the foot that will end badly.

And don't get me started on how through little hints and notes you get a feeling that Manumits are horrific people, and the only gay romance option have to be a leader of this movement so you wouldn't romance him because you'd get annoyed/angry (many such cases among players).

I've seen a lot of takes circling around this topic, and it always surprises me how people think those with fixed preferences are the problem, and not the writers/artists completely mutilating character's traits to fit the top/bottom stereotypes.
This might reach the wrong audience and I apologize in advance for my question, but I am genuinely trying to learn here: Why are bot/top dynamics/positions such a big deal for some people to the point it creates strong reactions if it so happen to not be what they consume?-

Same with tops. Turning sweet, kind-hearted tops into daddy doms because kindness and youth is associated with submissiveness, and thus being a bottom. And bottoms are always seen as 'women' of the couple, and women HAVE to be sweet, nurturing, hesitant, naive and etc.

Sure, there are many submissive bottoms and dominant tops out there, but this is not the rule, and should not be a rule. So, until people learn how to write without turning everything into ooc, I personally will not read things that does not align with my hcs.
