"Q. How democratic is the Israeli vote – and who is being disenfranchised? A: About 15 million people live in areas under Israeli control. Just over 7 million Jewish Israelis and 1.7 million Palestinian citizens of Israel live within the country’s pre-1967 borders, known as the “green line”, and have full voting rights. In the occupied West Bank, more than 500,000 Israeli settlers can vote. They live among 3.1 million Palestinians who are subject to military rule and do not have the right to vote. In occupied East Jerusalem more than 230,000 Israelis with voting rights live among 350,000 Palestinians who cannot vote. Two million Palestinians in Gaza, who live under Israeli military occupation, according to the international court of justice, also have no vote." theguardian.com/world/2026/o…

I have literally spent the last month trekking around Jordan interviewing elderly Nakba survivors and hearing their harrowing stories- and just completed a three hour video interview on Saturday night. No one I talked to left before multiple neighbours or family members had been shot and killed. Few of them had any weapons of any sort to protect themselves and if they did they were ancient Turkish muskets. Their opponents were armed with modern, newly-imported Czech rifles and many had been trained and drilled by the British. It became simply suicidal to remain, though many old people tried to so. The guy I interviewed on Saturday fled with his mother after their village was bombed. Their father remained and was loaded onto a truck to Gaza, at gunpoint, by the Haganah. Many of the family members that remained in Gaza have been killed in the last two years

One of the highlights of my time in Jordan was visiting UNWRA archives and examining the index cards and other records of the 750,000 Palestinians kicked off their land at the Nakba in 1948. They used to be kept in Gaza and were airlifted out at the beginning of the genocide- Israel has destroyed all the archives that remained. They form the best evidence for some form of reparations in the future and are now being scanned and digitalised

Netanyahu lost his majority today and in a week Trump will lose control of Congress. But both will remain in office. I predict their joint response will be a massive attack on Iran, which they hope will consolidate their domestic power.

New New New Labour is the Party of War
I’ve said since my first day as Defence Secretary that I trust this Chancellor to give us what we need to keep our country safe. Today demonstrates why. We’re delivering the biggest sustained increase in defence spending since the Cold War. Today the Chancellor not only restated our NATO commitment to spend 3.5% of GDP by 2035, but also to spend 3% by 2030. The gravest dangers of the 20th century are returning, armed with the technologies of the 21st. The Conservatives left our armed forces underfunded and hollowed out. This Labour Chancellor is investing in our defence - a Britain ready to fight and a country worth fighting for. 🇬🇧🌹

The minimum wage on a 35 hour week is only 24k before tax so probably only 21k after it. 21k a year to live off is a poverty minimum wage with no quality of life and maybe just maybe being able to just not go into massive debt on your rent/bills/food and childcare…

CHILLING: German journalist hit hard by EU sanctions Hüseyin Doğru covered pro-Palestine protests in Germany and this led the German political establishment (including trade unions) to target him. Before long, Kaja Kallas, the unelected vice-president of the EU, sanctioned him.👇

Operation Paperclip brought 1600 German scientists to the US, nearly all with deep Nazi ties. Incriminating evidence was removed, false biographies created & a paperclip attached to the files of those to approve for immigration. Nazi generals became high ranking NATO commanders
The US hosts criminals, drug-traffickers, and corrupt oligarchs from across Latin America. Brazil's Bolsonaro crime family is propped up by the US. The US government has admitted that it is giving a visa to corrupt Brazilian politician Flávio Bolsonaro, who is a fugitive from justice who fled an investigation into money laundering. Flávio's father, the far-right former President Jair Bolsonaro, fled Brazil for Florida after he refused to accept his loss to Lula in the 2022 election and tried to launch a military coup, which failed. Flávio's brother, the corrupt far-right former politician Eduardo Bolsonaro, is also a fugitive from justice who has been living in the US, and working closely with Trump's MAGA movement. Jair admitted that Eduardo is even seeking US citizenship. The Bolsonaro crime family is loyal to the US empire (and its own portfolio), not Brazil.

It's all smoke & mirrors mate. The plan is to fins a way to convert the 'standard charge' onto the unit price. Therefore, when that happens, for those who need to use more energy due to health issues, the cost of energy will go up making many people poorer
That isn't even a pound a week per household. And energy prices are going up this month. Jesus Christ, is this your idea of helping working people, @andyburnham?

Tony Blair funnels his ill gotten gains through Windrush Ventures No 3 Limited Partnership Unusually Companies House does not give any of the names associated with this company and it's legally exempt from filing detailed financial accounts. KPMG says there's no tax evasion.🙄
Replying to @FranceskAlbs
theguardian.com/politics/200… "The formerprime minister Tony Blair has received millions of pounds through an unusual mixture of commercial, charitable and religious income streams. Since he stepped down from office in 2007, his financial affairs have been described by observers as "Byzantine" and "opaque". The Guardian is now launching an online competition offering a prize to the person who can shine the brightest light on those financial structures. Blair has a commercial consultancy, called Tony Blair Associates, plus jobs advising a US bank and a Swiss insurer. He has a multimillion pound book deal. He also has a charity, the Tony Blair Africa Governance Initiative, and another called the Tony Blair Faith Foundation. But much of the income, which includes charitable donations from other sources, has been funnelled through a structure called Windrush Ventures No 3 Limited Partnership. Our contest asks: what is Windrush?
