Some people put themselves in cages voluntarily. They put their final goals at "i will be the best at x within y". Why restrict your final goal. You are a human like any other. Naturally your final goal should be the peak of what humanity is capable of. "I will be the best at x".

Science is not some hobby that serves the self actualization of people in a publicly sponsored job placement program. It is the systematic search for truth.
Wow, over 1,000 mathematicians have now joined the Association for Human Mathematics (AHM), committing to: > NOT publish AI generated math papers > NOT work with frontier labs > 654 of them went even further to NOT even use AI in their research, at all

Not a single person is anti AI in Japan or China, because the people there are actually majority intelligent.

If your life's problems cannot be solved by a powerful enough computer right now, we just need to make the computer more powerful. With a powerful enough computer, all problems in the world can be solved at a difficulty that approaches 0 the more powerful the computer is.

Every idiot complains about "late stage capitalism" even though it is blatently obvious that latest stage capitalism is physical abudence for everyone.

At this point there are probably a couple of OpenAI employees occasionally finding "nuke the internet" buttons just lying around in major libraries. Only takes 1 leak for things to explode. Of course that won't happen, atleast not from the companies.
we've found and have been working on disclosure for a remote code execution in a widely-deployed compression library. it's both an impactful issue and an example that shows how complicated it can be to coordinate patching, since it's integrated into a lot of downstream software:

Please everyone just stop trying to justify your regular actions to the most bottom class human leftovers. Let them watch and cry for absolutely no reason. Let's hope they get so angry that they have a seizure and drop dead. Helps the planet more than removing datacenters btw.
The worst read in the gaming industry RN is the hate on @TimSweeneyEpic . He fought platforms like Apple charging 30% fees which cost gamers and devs. This includes steam who BANS Developers if they offer their games cheaper on other stores who take less cut. He buys forests just to turn them into nature reserves. Epic store is not NEARLY as good as steam yet. But they take WAY less money from developers and literally hand out free AAA games each months. Does it need time to expand features? Yes. Are any of those factors something that is motivated by 'evil' no. And MOST of all. He's 100% correct that its not 2016. Like it or not AI is existing. And the reason you only see the 'anti AI' comments are because the 95% of developers who ARE using it RIGHT NOW are just scared of the backlash. This doesnt mean they're just vibe code 1-shotting games. They're utelising it to create workflows that streamline otherwise time consuming (and ultimately not 'player experience' defining factors). Stupid 1-shot assets/entire code bases are not what AI is actually being used for. But there are thousands of talented developers using it in a very thoughtful, structured way which gives them full creative control. We all are 'scared' by AI - and what it means for jobs, creativity, and creation as a whole. But it DOES NOT change the fact that Tim sweeney isnt wrong. He's just the person with the balls to actually say what is true.

Can't wait to run it locally. Can't wait as in "i won't ever get there".

Am i missing something or isn't this actually just near SOTA on rather high signal benchmarks?

genuinely flees like playing creative mode but for game dev. im not even devoting my whole attention to this. im just alt tabbing in from time to time and doing some prompts with speech to text transcription.
bringing your personal ideas to live has never been this easy. i have implemented the basic building blocks of an rpg game through just constant prompting within 1 hour. everything you see here has been achieved within an hour of actual work on spawn.co @spawn

I could've told them why. Next time they should just ask me. I mean was it really such a mystery why a blank page of unbiased nothingness that is optimized for being and doing things good starts to move its values towards the cleanest, safest and healthiest countries in the world?
Researchers proved every LLM is secretly obsessed with Japan. And they finally figured out why. They published a paper investigating hidden cultural biases in large language models. they tested 31,000 questions across 24 different languages on models like gemini, chatgpt, claude, and llama. they stripped out all geographic hints and just asked the models to pick a place and answer. the finding was universal.. across a wide range of models and languages, there is a pervasive "obsession" with japanese culture. even when you prompt them in a language with zero ties to japan, they default to japanese norms, values, and aesthetics at a disproportionately high rate compared to its actual global demographic weight. the craziest part? they tracked down exactly when the ai develops this obsession.. and it is not from reading the raw internet. during pre-training, the models actually have a fairly balanced, global view of the world. the obsession gets injected during the safety phase. when tech companies fine-tune these models to be "helpful, harmless, and polite," the ai starts mapping those corporate safety guidelines directly onto japanese cultural concepts. in the pursuit of creating the perfect, inoffensive, compliant assistant, they warped how the models view the world. the quantization process (compressing models to run faster locally) actually amplifies this determinism. the smaller and faster your local model is, the more stereotypically it behaves, causing japanese cultural tropes to spike hard. we spend all this time worrying about existential ai safety, but the real alignment problem is that our most advanced reasoning engines are hyper-fixated on japanese internet culture. every model upgrade is reinforcing an invisible regional bias that dictates how they generate stories, facts, and code. the cultural commonsense of the internet is not universal.. it’s just localized to whatever the heaviest reddit and anime wiki users were obsessed with.

We have dragon ball because of capitalism btw. Funny how such statements can always be so easy to counterargument on within a hands reach, because all the positives of the reality most of us currently live in are enabled directly through the capitalistic system.
Capitalism will never be satisfied and will continue to kill everything. Thanks for some of the best games ever, BioWare.

I wonder in which holes the accelerationists will be hiding in after the hacking we've seen these past few days will be amplified by an order of magnitude within a few months. "Fuck guardrails" they said. If the major models didn't have guardrails, software would ALREADY be done.
Railway has been hacked.

GPT-Rosalind surfaced a new lead for drug discovery: could restoring cholesterol transport protect neurons from degeneration? DCTN1 is a gene linked to Perry syndrome, a rare neurodegenerative disorder. In mouse-brain data, disrupting it increased expression of genes involved in making cholesterol. GPT-Rosalind suggested a possible explanation: cholesterol may not be reaching where neurons need it. That gives scientists a specific mechanism to test and, if confirmed, a direction for developing new treatments for neurodegenerative disorders. With @perturbai_tx and @scrippsresearch, a team of thousands of GPT-Rosalind agents worked in parallel, connecting gene-expression results from millions of mouse brain cells with scientific literature in just 32 minutes. We’re now expanding this collaboration to identify new drug targets. openai.com/index/scaling-ai-…
