initially had conflicted feelings bc everyone who knows me knows how much i liked him. we even called it a clean exit and thought deeply about the gap he’d leave. i wanted to support him even after, but the shirt and the delayed, half-hearted apology changed things. and honestly, i don't think it's that difficult to empathize with the community he hurt. this isn’t about the boyfriend image he was curated around; it’s about basic decency and knowing that racism has no place in society. something that i feel a lot seem to undermine in the guise of contribution and nostalgia.
