$MSTR CFO just resigned. A sudden departure like that is almost always a huge red flag for any company. Think Enron, WorldCom, Lehman Brothers, etc

No, Luke is obviously correct here. You can't have a serious money if the mining pools can just decide to ignore node runners whenever they want to, or are pressured to. Again, there was no URSF, but rather just behind the scenes lobbying. Large mining pool operators chose to side with Core and Saylor and against node runners. How many times will you need to observe this happening before you understand that node runners are no longer in control on BTC? It's simply not true that XBT is highly centralized, nor that everyone needs to do what Luke says. For example, we're about to do a soft fork that Luke is against. Care to discuss miner diversity on the SHA-256 chain?

The most powerful computer network in the world controlled by 2 mining pools, coercible by governments or Saylor-Black rock level suits. Woke dishonest devs. A pleb army neutered by nodes that don't matter and admonished by the cult-leaders who are really paid-off influencers who can't afford the sponsorship loss, let alone the social cost, of maintaining a backbone. Yeah this is all going swimmingly. You all became the very thing we sought to destroy. Congrats. AND YOU KNOW IT IN YOUR BONES, but none of you are intellectually honest enough to admit it.

15/ I’m perfectly fine with people strongly disagreeing with me on BIP-110, Core, or anything else. But it turns out there's a cost to reporting critically on Bitcoin, when your findings challenge the prevailing narrative. Uncomfortable information can be treated as a threat to NGU, and criticism as an attack on Bitcoin itself. Instead of challenging my reporting and positions, Phil used his platform to question my financial motives, compare me to Craig Wright, and associate me with grifting and scamming, without contacting me, and without identifying a single dishonest act. When I privately asked him to substantiate his public accusations, he was silent.

I’ve decided to support @GrassFedBitcoin’s proposal for a 6-month rolling coinbase maturity extension (CBME) until RDTS expiry, despite my preference for 1 year fixed. I want to explain why, because I don’t think this is nearly the concession it might appear to be. The objective has always been to discourage short-term, profit-driven hashrate from exploiting the network. The question is how best to accomplish that, and I think the rolling design matters more than people are giving it credit for. The original 1-year proposal had a fixed expiration tied to RDTS. That creates a significant weakness: a block mined the day before RDTS expires could mature the following day. As we approach expiration, the deterrent progressively weakens. With 6 months rolling, every block mined while the rule is active carries the full 6-month maturity requirement, including those mined immediately before expiration. This creates a substantial overhang of immature rewards extending six months beyond RDTS, for an effective period of up to 18 months. It’s a shorter lockup per block, but a more consistent deterrent throughout the entire period. Now consider the consensus problem. There’s broad support for 1 year, but there’s a meaningful difference between ~55% support and 75% support. We can continue arguing over whether the additional six months of maturity would produce materially better outcomes, but the reality is that nobody has concrete evidence to settle that question. Meanwhile, we risk deadlocking the 6-month and 1-year camps until the existing 45-day fixed extension expires, or 45-day rolling takes effect. That would be a substantially worse outcome than either proposal. Six months rolling gives the 1-year camp much of what it wants while requiring the 45-day camp to accept a significant increase in maturity. And let’s be clear, six months is still brutal for short-term miners. It doesn’t gradually acclimate the leeches to the network by easing restrictions as expiration approaches. It maintains the deterrent right up to the end, effectively easing them out rather than easing them in. I understand the hardliner position because I largely share it. But there’s a difference between compromising on the objective and compromising on the means of achieving it. I’d rather secure a strong deterrent with broad consensus than risk losing the entire effort over a marginal difference in expected outcomes that nobody can reliably quantify. We have other serious problems demanding our attention, particularly the growing amount of spam making its way into mined blocks. I’d like us to resolve this and get back to fighting those battles.

What is there Bitcoin consensus on? (Future proposals like rolling 45-day aside) THIS IS NOT YOUR OPINION, just what you observe the community at large supporting.

This is just unbelievable! This block contains 99.1% spam by size, and the spam paid 19.8x cheaper than monetary transactions for the same block space. And core coiners are celebrating it as a success!! Yes, the red parts are spam and the blue parts are monetary transactions. See if you can spot the blue ones.
Block 972161 today contained 7,929 transactions. Only 30 other blocks have ever contained more.

WEEKLY SPAM CHAIN REPORT This week, spam took up 49.54% (806.8 MB) of the blocks size and paid only 16.1% of the miner fees, resulting in spam paying 5x cheaper than monetary users for the same block space. After a slow down of spam last week, we are resuming to half of the blocks being filled with junk and malware. Thanks to the miner cartel who rejected a valuable upgrade to cut all that malware. And this week, fees from spam made up 0.087% of total miner rewards. Next week's report will likely be published late, or bundled as two weeks combined.

These are the faces Big Bitcoin is using to manufacture anti-maxi momentum. And they genuinely believe Bitcoiners are this stupid. David Bailey is the marketing arm of Big Bitcoin. The narrative control mechanism. Wall Street controls the price. Bailey controls the narrative. The sheer hubris of the system is staggering. They actually believe they can engineer sentiment, manufacture opposition, deploy a few loud personalities, and steer an entire movement away from its founding principles. Do they not realize Bitcoiners represent one of the last remaining islands of independent, critical thought? We came here because we questioned the system. Because we recognized the incentives were broken. Because we refused to accept the narratives being sold to us. And now that same system thinks it can capture Bitcoin by recycling the very playbook that drove us here in the first place. If you’re going to manufacture consent, at least make it convincing. Pick better fighters.

If I am reading this correctly, a former employee of Blockstream (Alphonse Pace) seems to be hinting that Blockstream is close to collapse and will not be getting any more money from Fulgur or Tether or Bitcoin OGs. I've heard that Alphonse was involved in building the Blockstream Mining Dashboard, allegedly with hashrate numbers that don't change. Has anyone else heard the same? If Blockstream goes, it's probably really bad news for Liquid bag holders. The omega candle jab is the icing on the cake

Bitcoin didn't win. Bitcoin can change. Bitcoin is changing. Bitcoin has changed. We fell in love with a thing that was set in stone, and then we bypassed the one layer that actually holds it in place: the humans. While we posted "number go up," the reference implementation was being quietly captured. If no one fights for Bitcoin, Bitcoin will very soon be dead. Who is actually running Bitcoin Core, and who is allowed to audit them? @hodlonaut, the Space Cat, the citizen journalist who told the simple truth about Craig Wright and then stood in the fire for five years over it, came on to lay out the fight consuming Bitcoin right now, in plain English: how he found Bitcoin and shepherded the Lightning Torch, what the five-year Craig Wright war taught him about choosing principles over outcome, his Capture series and how informal power over Bitcoin Core was assembled and defended, the DEI and "extractive" playbook used to shut down anyone who asked questions, why every line of code must serve monetary sovereignty, the real cost of running a node at 10x and 100x, and why he went from BIP-110 skeptic to all-in. What is with the defensive tribalism mentality and response of BTC followers? 🧐🤔 They are clearly triggered when their worldview belief that Bitcoin is bound and synonymous to BTC is challenged👇🤨🧵 One can see this in the angry, attacking, emotionally charged and triggered responses of @Saifedean Ammous (screenshots below). The truth is - Bitcoin is bound only to its past blockchain history, and is independent of, and not bound to any specific hashing algorithm. The ability of Bitcoin to be hashing algorithm agnostic is a feature that allows Bitcoin to "fire the miners" in case of centralization and capture risk... as it recently did. Because they have never seen a defensive hardfork executed, they erroneously believe it was an offensive hardfork maneuver because this is how it has been used in the past. It's actually a fascinating study of human nature and Ego at work that when someone who has put in the work to be held as an authority on a subject of economic - as Saifedean has - feels entitled to have an authoritative response when the worldview they crafted is challenged 🧐🤨 ... Or maybe he's mad because he kept all his Bitcoin on an exchange and got rugged if his XBT so now he's stuck defending BTC 😉🤷🏼 Either way, BTC is controlled by The State. That's just a fact becoming more and more obvious. XBT is money for plebs. Invest wisely ✊⚡️
