Here's a true story that goes beyond the charts. We partnered with a major sports organization and then got rugged by our biggest client, forcing the relationship to be put on pause. Many people don't know this, but I put up most of that first 7-figure payment to that partner out of my own pocket, expecting that I would be paid back by said client. Then, our Series A fell through after two months of negotiations, right before closing, because of the Luna, Celsius, BlockFi, FTX, etc. fallout. It sent us on a downward spiral. I felt like my life was over; I legitimately went all in and lost. So I was like, "Okay, I can either KMS or figure out how tf to un-ruin my life and everyone who has believed in me." I genuinely considered the former. I had lost a staggering amount of money, and the number of angry phone calls I had to field over the course of 18-20 months put an unbelievable strain on me. While the angry phone calls were harsh, the encouragement I got from long-term community members meant 10 times as much. So, we had to keep pushing. We were super underwater. Our runway was getting eaten up, and the market was literally decimated. No one wanted to hear the words web3, crypto, etc. The team and I got into the trenches. We looked at everything from top to bottom. Reduced costs, mitigated risks, and the executive team agreed to defer pay for an unknown amount of time, even after being given the option to bow out quietly. We dropped several new products even during the bear. Strong community members kept things rocking even in the face of uncertainty. We came together because we still felt there was a vision to achieve. During our all-hands meeting this week, our CFO informed us that we are at a net positive run rate for the first time since the beginning of this story. Our subscriptions are seeing an uptick. Metrics are increasing across the board. We're still carrying some baggage, but it's manageable baggage. The @DiviProject story is far from over.
