working on this ya books post series about latinx books that would make great adaptations and its bringing me so much joyy 🥺✌️💓
statistically white authored books will usually get more of the attention & buzz on social media compared to poc books !! like bttm only released a few yrs ago and the adaptation is confirmed + filmed while other diverse YA romance books arent uplifted to the same degree
am hyped to see wildwood, so given the blend of fantasy and horror @LAIKAStudios animation is known for...the way i would be absolutely seated if they adapted LATINE YA fantasy or horror books for teen films ???

i think one of my biggest issues with the popular fantasy romance books out today is they've lost the subtle art of a slow burn. WHY ARE THEY ALREADY BANTERING ON CHAPTER 2??! where's the build up, tension, subtle chemistry, longing gazes from afar???
as readers its a right of passage to discover a book with the fictional character that forever altered our brain chemistry
takes from "YA books are all love triangles" to only "romance" mirror the same critiques that i notice shoujo manga get bc alot of people simply don't care to understand the demographic. the biased mindset for outdated tropes & assuming memorable YA stops at "the hunger games"
