Congratulations to HCS schools and counseling professionals who were recently recognized during the Georgia School Counselor Association's Annual Conference in Macon, showcasing the district's focus on nurturing wellness and a holistic teaching and learning culture. Director of Advisement and Counseling Dr. Chon Hester was named Supervisor of the Year for outstanding promotion, implementation, and improvement of existing school counseling services and exemplary support of school counseling services in alignment with the American School Counselor Association National Model. Coordinator of School Counseling Erin Bundrige received the GSCA Inspiration Award for serving as an inspiration to the GSCA president throughout her work in the school counseling profession. Unity Grove Elementary School Counselor Dr. Shanna Mitchell-Jones was recognized as the only ASCA Certified School Counselor in Georgia. McDonough Middle School Counselor Pakisha Reynolds received the GSCA Emerging Leader Award for demonstrated experience and dedication to becoming a leader of the counseling profession.
