Sudan 🇸🇩
Sudan has broken its silence. At a joint press conference by Military Intelligence, General Intelligence and the Foreign Ministry, officials said drones launched from Ethiopian territory have carried out 162 attacks on Sudan, killing more than 400 civilians and 102 soldiers and destroying schools, hospitals and fuel stations. For the first time, they also showed the flight routes from bases in Asosa and Bahir Dar along the South Sudan border.

@ADFmagazine This article’s seemingly positive headline masks serious factual inaccuracies, selective analysis and a fundamentally distorted portrayal of Eritrea. Eritrea’s stability is no recent phenomenon. It rests on decades of national cohesion, the capacity to safeguard its sovereignty and maritime security, and a consistent pursuit of regional peace and cooperation, despite persistent hostility and provocations from #Ethiopia, emboldened by external powers. It is time those powers adopted a sober assessment of regional realities and exercised their influence responsibly to advance regional peace and security. #Eritrea

Social media cannot change ground realities. 🇪🇷&🇪🇹 have internationally recognized borders. As AFRICOM/ADF notes, 🇪🇷 is one of the few stable countries in the troubled Red Sea region. Rhetoric doesn’t rewrite maps or sovereignty.

The truth is that #Ethiopia lacks the independent capacity to sustain such an operation on its own. Addis Ababa is acting as a channel for the #UAE’s support to the #RSF.
#Ethiopia is simply carrying out the UAE’s agenda in Sudan and the wider Horn of Africa. @sudanaxis
Eritrea set a bold precedent during its national reconstruction by banning FGM and guaranteeing equal education across all ethnic groups. 🇪🇷

I am fascinated to see a publication from US AFRICOM refer to Eritrea as "one of the only stable countries in the troubled [Red Sea] region." That explains a lot. adf-magazine.com/2026/10/red…

U.S. AFRICOM has described Eritrea as one of the only stable countries in the troubled Red Sea region. According to an article in ADF, the magazine of the U.S. military in Africa, #Eritrea is the only country in the Horn of Africa that has maintained peace, underscoring its readiness to contribute to joint efforts for peace and stability in the region.
Eritrea is one of the only stable and secure countries in the troubled Red Sea region.
Africa Defense Forum (U.S. Africa Command) highlights that the only safe route in the area currently runs through Eritrea.🇪🇷 💪

An article published by #Eritrea’s Ministry of Information accuses #Ethiopia’s ruling Prosperity Party of threatening #Eritrean sovereignty through its pursuit of sovereign access to the Red Sea.
The author calls on the #UN Security Council and African Union to take decisive action against Addis Ababa’s alleged expansionist ambitions, warning of another devastating regional conflict.

#Eritrea : Adulis, on Eritrea’s Red Sea coast near Zula Bay (~56 km south of Massawa), was the Horn of Africa’s main ancient port. Its strategic location at the junction of maritime and overland routes, plus nearby rivers, fertile land, and resources like obsidian and salt, made it a key trading hub. Activity dates back at least to the Pharaonic Old Kingdom (c. 2650–2150 BC) as part of the Land of Punt, supplying exotic goods to Egypt. The town was destroyed by flooding and seismic events in the 7th–8th century AD and abandoned, vanishing under sand and silt for centuries.
Excavations resumed in 2011 under Eritrea’s Commission of Culture and Sports with Italian partners (CeRDO and several universities). Work has uncovered early Christian basilicas, a cathedral with marble and alabaster, a high-status residence, workshops, burials, and imported goods across a ~40-hectare site of distinctive basalt stone architecture. The 2024 campaign revealed large intact vases intentionally buried from the 1st–2nd century AD—pushing the town’s known development earlier than the previously assumed 3rd–7th centuries. Nearby ceramic fragments may date even earlier (2nd–1st millennium BC), linking back to Punt-era trade. Next steps will investigate the vases’ context
