In loving memory of The Beast (this version, anyway). Some of what we pulled out of the oil pan. A light bulb fixed everything else this weekend. Not this.
We'll be back.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
That's it for us at Capitol Offense. We (at least think we) threw a rod.
Thanks to ARC Racing, everyone who watched, and AutoZone, our most frequent pit stop.
We'll be back. Probably with a different engine.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
Blew a serpentine belt. Another run to AutoZone. At this point they should probably be a sponsor.
Finally back on track. Watch us live: youtube.com/@4ogsracing/live

We're live. Green flag in under 30 minutes at Summit Point. Come watch us find out if the light bulb holds.

Failed tech. Fixed the cage. Then the electrical gremlins came back. New alternator, new battery, and the actual fix was a light bulb wired into the cluster. We don't know why it works.
Green flag 10am.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
ARC Racing fixed our roll cage in about 30 minutes. Then they color matched it. Absolute legends.
Back to Summit Point for tech, take two.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
Update: the car made it to Summit Point and failed tech. A roll cage support bar was in the wrong spot, so it's at ARC Racing in Winchester getting fixed by an actual roll cage master.
Then it's back to tech.

Choose your driver. Team Principal, Technical Director, Aerodynamics Engineer, Performance Engineer. All four locked in for Capitol Offense.
Green flag tomorrow, 10am, Summit Point.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
We made it to Summit Point. The car is still on its way, so we got some practice in. New lap record: 1.77 seconds.
Green flag tomorrow, 10am.

Tuesday night: the new instrument cluster doesn't fit. We forgot about height.
2am redesign. Reprinted all Wednesday. Second half of the shell went on at 7am today, one shot.
1:30pm: good to go. 44.5 hours to green flag.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
Travel day. Two of us flew in from the West Coast, one drove from Philly, and the car left Dulles on a trailer, its preferred way to travel.
4,696 miles so we can drive in circles in West Virginia. Green flag Saturday, 10am, Summit Point.

Brian made a foam mold for a custom carbon fiber airbox. Respirator, two liquids that expand when they meet, reasonable confidence about the ratio.
Then we bought an air filter.
No airbox. Pretty typical for us.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
Comms are up. Every radio boots to our logo.
The pit antenna needs a ground plane. Ours is a cookie sheet. We've followed all official procedures. We think.
Every driver on this team thinks he's Maverick. Nobody has volunteered to be Goose.

We ripped out the entire system that gets gas to the engine, then put it back.
It runs.
Whether the new fuel pickups are where they belong, we'll find out at half a tank on Saturday. Same place we found out last time.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
Fixed what sank us at Sonoma. New pump, new pickups, and an aluminum cover to keep fire out of the cockpit.
Then we added hazard stripes, a radiation symbol, and customs stamps from two countries we won't name.
Definitely just a fuel tank.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
Remote wrenching. One guy in the garage, the rest of us on a video call holding tequila, offering direction.
Somebody said cut it. Several people agreed. He was the only one in a position to be wrong.
We have no idea if the car will run.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
One more in person wrenching session than we had before the entire last race. This is that session.
Brian made a foam block. It is not an air filter. He wrote that on it so nobody would ask.
The mold for the carbon airbox. Hood scoop pending.

Back on the car. Step one: the EPA restrictor comes out.
A spring loaded door behind a 21mm opening, mandated since 1974. Pump nozzles only.
We fuel from a jug with a guy holding an extinguisher six feet away. Shorter pour is the point.
๐ Very Racy. Questionably Pacey.
Team meeting tonight.
Gas tank out. Fuel system on the floor. Three wheels off. Fuel pump lost in the mail.
So we built a pitwall. Track map done. Starvation warning reads SYSTEM NORMAL. Every other value is a dash.
We did test driver comms: "don't run out of gas." ๐
