How am I only now learning there’s an Ice Age etching at La Marche Cave that shows a cave lion baring its fangs? Flehmen response (tasting the air for chemical traces left by other lions), or the start of a menacing hiss? Who knows…

bit late to #fibonacciday ! I deliberately do not use the Golden Spiral as a compositional template of any kind, but I find that my finished #sciart pieces often adhere to it (!) It's eerie and magical to see things line up...

The big bucks we captured on camera last fall…some real bruisers! Right now, the rut appears to be in full swing now with bucks scraping/rubbing and moving around a lot over past few days. And this is usually when we get footage of these big boys.

Wishing a very happy 34th birthday to Tua! 🥳
Here are some of our favorite photos of her and baby Jambi together. Sumatran orangutan mothers are very attentive to their young, raising them until they are approximately 7 to 10 years old.

More than 30,000 years ago, a baby wolly mammoth disappeared into the frozen Earth.
Now she has been found - remarkably preserved in Yukon’s permafrost, as if the Ice Age never ended.
Discovered by gold miners in the Klondike region in 2022, this extraordinary find became the first baby mammoth discovered in North America - a breathtaking glimpse into a world lost in time.

Horses bigger in prehistoric Texas?? From Late Pleistocene North America, the giant horse is a dubious species of horse known from a single tooth found in Texas. The claim is that of a 1500kg animal that's 2 meters tall at the shoulder

I missed Nanoversary by several days, whoops. But here's a bit of line design work for a 3D model I'll be making as part of a future personal project.
