Readers Respond to School Closures and Ranked Choice Voting

“If you disrupt the schools of thousands of Portland families at once, you also give thousands of families a reason to reconsider whether PPS is still working for them.”

Many candidates are mudslinging in the run up to the #midterms. It’s embarrassing! Did you know that candidates are incentivized to mudsling under choose-one voting? STAR Voting and Approval Voting are two voting methods that incentivize consensus-building! Try them for yourself: buff.ly/wWQ6dg9

On Oct 11th, 2014 STAR Voting was invented! A hybrid approach, STAR Voting combines a 0-5 star rating style ballot with a built in top-two runoff. Happy 12th birthday STAR Voting! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🧵 1/3

The five star ballot lets voters easily show who they prefer and how much or little they like each option. The top-two runoff ensures that every vote is equally powerful and ensures majority preferred winners whenever possible. 2/3 ✨💫✨

It wasn't long after that STAR Voting started topping the charts in every study that included it, and starting building its own following. Today STAR Voting is recognized as a leading option for top tier elections; accurate, empowering, and representative! 3/3 🌟

Right now, voting your conscience is treated like throwing your vote away. That's by design. STAR Voting fixes it. I endorsed it as the Libertarian candidate for LaGrange County Council, because I'd rather win your honest vote than your scared one. starvoting.org

STAR Voting

We should be able to vote our conscience, our votes should never be wasted, and our elections should accurately reflect the will of the people. It's not rocket science. It's Star Voting.
