The Nationals face the Marlins in Jupiter today, which means they get their first chance to try out the ABS challenge system. Drew Millas, who had plenty of experience with it at AAA, thinks it actually makes catchers more important than before. masnsports.com/blog/first-ga…

The glove is not flat to the ground at the bottom of his set up the pocket is visible with the thumb and top of the webbing dragging across the ground to the catch see to many young catchers with the glove flat to the ground
Two perfectly executed receptions by Mariners farmhand Josh Caron.
Two things to notice - # 1, on the first catch, the horizontal move. The FIRST MOVE is directly RIGHT before ascending to the ball.
“Catch the ball side of the ball.”
For the other catch, it is the PATIENCE. See how long he WAITS before the surge through catch. The thumb drags and stays connected to the ground.
