Yesterday's Value/Performance graphs got a huge reaction, and one name kept coming up more than any other: Ben Duckett. 4th top run scorer. Team finished top of the table. So why is his AVR not that great? Time for a deep dive 🧵

Great to have James with us this month in the Hundred. Alongside Harrison (@7HCA) who was with the Men's team we are incredibly proud of their acheivements. To get both teams qualified was great feat, and obviously thrilled to be able to contribute to some silverware too!
An absolution incredible month working with the Northern Superchargers. We brought the best players, strategy and something together and very proud to say that I was part of the team that won The Hundred 2025 at the incredible Lords Cricket Ground. Memories Made 💜

Is spin undervalued at the death in T20? Today Joe Root deployed an interesting strategy in the 20th over , coming round the wicket with a low and wide release point, only going for 7 runs. Major T20s RPO at the death in last 3 years: Seam: 10.6 Spin: 9.5

Who are the best value for money players in the IPL? With the upcoming retentions and mega auction how can teams assess their squad and find the best value retentions. Using Added Value Ratings (AVR) we can assess a player compared to the expected on every ball they face/bowl.

A standout on AVR and interesting retention decision is Jake Fraser-Mcgurk who averaged 12.8 AVR per match for Delhi Capitals last season. Is he worth the minimum 11 Crore retention price for 2025?

On the other hand, Hardik Pandya, who Mumbai signed for 15 Crore had values of -1.9 for batting and -5 for bowling last season, didn’t offer great value for money. Who do you think was best value for money last season? *min 100 balls faced or bowled

This got us thinking… With our Team Builder tool you can compare teams giving you a win% based on playing 1000 games. We compiled two (mostly!) different England teams from the Blast that might be able to compete, using no WC players. We couldn't quite get over the 50% line!
Replying to @AucklandCharlie
That’s a really good question. I think there’s definitely scope to create a team which at least would win 50% of matches over the long run.

Heinrich Klaasen has been on a unbelievable run of form over the past two years. This is underpinned by his hitting vs spin. He has the highest SR of all players to face 300+ balls v spin. Against traditional weaker match ups for a RHB (RLB/SLA) he has been striking at 209!
